PyreFlayer was a demon about five times my size and an experienced fighter. I wasn't even close to being in my prime. Demons could enter whenever they wanted, there wasn't an age limit. And I was the youngest demon there.
This would be my only chance to earn respect.
I narrowed my eyes at PyreFlayer. His hunched shoulders probably meant he used them more than his scrawny legs. No matter how old or big he was, he was a cripple. Barely stronger than Icarus. It wouldn't be easy, but I would have to give him some kind of disadvantage.
PyreFlayer looked like a melted gargoyle. His small bat ears were ripped. He had a hunched back, and nauseating green skin with large blisters the size of my hands. His legs were completely limp, he had three toes on each foot with long black toenails. He had no wings, those had been torn off decades ago. His black horns were small and broken. He grinned, his rotten, yellow teeth were either missing or had black all over. He hissed and a fat, black tongue snaked out.
I heard the warning bells toll. The three strikes meant that we had to get into position to fight. I walked into the arena.
I must not show my fear. No matter what, demons were disgusted by other demons fear. The Arena was about sixty yards long and sixty yards wide. Large torches were hung on the insides of the arena. The walls were made of something resembling stone, but much harder than adamant. Chains lined the top, creating a dome-like Ring.
On the other side of the Ring, PyreFlayer snarled. Gearing up for the fight. I took a deep breath, clearing all the sounds of the cheering and booing demons out until I could only hear me and PyreFlayer. The last bell rung out and PyreFlayer sprang.
I leapt towards him. Before we could collide in the air, I twisted away under him, delivering several swift punches to his stomach. PyreFlayer tumbled a few yards away and wheezed. His back to me, I planned my next move. PyreFlayer whipped around and sprang again.
PyreFlayer moves with sudden, incredible speed. He grabs my head and slams me to the ground. I lay on my back, dazed, and watched PyreFlayer extend his claws and prepare to strike at my face.569Please respect copyright.PENANASVGbvuEnUh
My hand flashes out, catching his wrist, and I fling him far away from me. I lay gasping for a moment before I'm back on my feet. PyreFlayer doesn't move.
"Solstice! You have won this round; you are now the Omega. From this moment on, you are Solstice. Omega of Demon's Core!"
I fought the urge to gag at the title.
