I was cold, my arms and legs felt heavy like lead. My eyes opened slowly as if there'd never been opened.
I was falling, falling fast.
I screeched, my body positioned like a missle, my head aiming down with my legs behind me. I squirmed and bucked, the ground getting closer and closer.
Finally, I righted myself to an almost-standing position and reached for my wings.
They wouldn't open, they were stuck. I fumbled, trying to pull them out as the ground got even closer. At this rate, I wouldn't have more than a minute before I hit Earth. I began spinning frantically in the air, dizzying myself with every turn.
The ground was less than a meter away when my wings sprang open.
But it was too late.
I hit the water, the wind completely knocked out from me, and started to sink. My wings dragging me under. I flailed in the freezing water, trying to claw my way back to the surface as I sunk deeper and my wings disappear once again.
The water grew darker as my body went numb and I give in to the darkness.
