Love- the poem-

Love.

It's a fool's chore

Tremendous risk

And sometimes no reward

Love is the cancer

The poison that you drink

The garbage that you eat

That silently kills you in your sleep

Love is the euphoria

The blissful idiocy

The joyful stupidity

The signs that you ignore, that even the blind could see

Love is a roller coaster

At the top lies leaning on someone's shoulder

Accompanying them as they grow older

At the bottom

Of this roller coaster, is constant torture

Excessive pain that you hold

Are you a hoarder?

Rock bottom of this ride

You thought they were your ride or die

But they triggered you dying inside

You were trying

You always tried

But they

Were a walking, talking lie

They killed your pride

They ask me

"Define love"

But can you even?

Is this something

You can find the meaning of?

Is love, trust?

Or being left, in the dust?

Is love hope?

Or being led on, and then let go?

Is love joy?

Or simulated happiness, a fake gift

And continually being toyed with

Drifting apart

Being dismissed

See, my confusion

Lies in the fact

That I can't tell if love

Is a word

Or an act

Does love hurt or feel good?

I think love is pleasurable. As it should

But

If love

Feels so nice

Then why after "experiencing it"

My heart has to sit on ice

And it's not just mine

I think many people experience this

Maybe even at the same time

If love

Is supposed to feel so joyous

Then why

Is being in love

Some of my darkest moments?

Mostly feeling hopeless

Never

Being noticed

Love feels like coldness

Shivering in the dark

No blankets or adornments

Love is torment.

A carrot

Constantly dangling above your head

And never a chance to hold it

It's a reward

That will never be awarded

Love is a disappointment.
