"Hm," Tymon grunted, then looked around for the mysterious woman from earlier, but she was gone.
"Dammit," he muttered as he let Gahiji go.
Gahiji dropped to a knee, rubbing his neck.
Tymon hoped she wasn't a threat. She seemed to be looking for a 'savior'.
Preparing to leave, he decided to show mercy to the klevonians who attacked him by sparing their lives. He removed Last Breath from their wounds, causing them to wake.
"I didn't wound any of you deep enough to kill you," Tymon told them. "You should be able to heal later."
"Why not kill us?" Gahiji asked him, standing up as blood still trickled down from his neck. "Doubt anyone would've cared if you had."
"That leader I mentioned earlier: she would've cared," Tymon replied. "Although it would've been self-defense, I didn't want to kill any of you."
Tymon saw something shift in Gahiji's gaze—something from skepticism to admiration.
"Then allow me to repay that mercy," Gahiji stated. "I have a cintracy that allows me to track people down. When coupled with omnivision, I can basically see scents. It's how I became known as 'The Hunt'. I can track down that woman from earlier."
Tymon raised his eyebrows in quiet surprise. This was a pleasant turn of events.
"You find her in exchange for me sparing your life," Tymon muttered aloud.
"Fine. It's a deal," he extended a hand to Gahiji.
Gahiji grabbed it respectfully, and they exchanged energies. Feeling the nature of Tymon's energy, he laughed nervously.
"This isn't a blood oath, but why does this feel like it does when making a deal with that demon?"
"A demon? Far from it," Tymon retorted, not knowing what demon he was referring to. Then, he charged Gahiji's shadow with some of his energy so he could find him should he need to. "It's more like making a deal with Death."
"I somehow don't doubt that," Gahiji laughed.
"Let me ask you something," Gahiji went on unexpectedly. "You fought us without fear despite us outnumbering you and each of us being more powerful than you. By all accounts, you should've been an easy target. Why weren't you afraid? Was it because you have that decaying power?"
"No. Unlike you, I can't die, so I only had to focus on defeating you," Tymon stated bluntly. "If I couldn't find a way, then I would've resorted to killing you all."
"Wait, you can't die?"
"No. Thanks to my Undying cintracy, I'll always come back in prime condition."
The other three klevonians looked at each other, then Gahiji, wide-eyed, as Gahiji blinked in disbelief as he watched Tymon.
"That means, despite having an ascension mark, even if you did have the power, you'd never ascend to pneumarian," he told Tymon. "The only other klevonians we know of who can never ascend are the Klevonian Army's Titan Generals. And a couple of unique bodyguards in Pneuma City."
"Why's that? They immortal too?" Tymon inquired, his interest piqued.
"I think it's best you see for yourself when you meet them," Gahiji grinned slightly.
"I think I get you a little more now that we've spoken and exchanged energy," Gahiji nodded as he spoke, though it seemed like he was muttering to himself. Then he looked at Tymon again. "You're not like pneumarians who only care about status, or most klevonians who only seek more power for themselves. You're like me, someone who seeks to protect those he cares about. Someone who'll do anything to ensure their safety. Plus, you're a rare klevonian who can fly like the pneumarians, showing you have a deeper understanding of spirit energy. And even rarer, you're an immortal klevonian who will never lose your klevonian identity. And if what that woman from earlier said is true, it's fair to assume you'll be very powerful in the future..."
"What's with the praise?" Tymon raised an eyebrow quizzically.
Suddenly, Gahiji kneeled before him.
"Let me serve you. You mentioned things being different with you, so not as klevonians serve a pneumarians, but as a respected underling," Gahiji stated.
"Serve?" Tymon took a step back, feeling somewhat uncomfortable. The memory of the Church of Light back on Earth flashed across his mind. "I don't need a servant."
"I can be useful to you. I can keep an eye out for trouble," he insisted, still kneeling.
"I can do that myself," Tymon returned.
Gahiji stood. His gaze was determined and filled with a new conviction.
"Remember, I'm an excellent tracker. I already plan to track down that woman for you. You never know what the future holds. I could be of use to you."
The other three klevonians dropped to a knee in unison before chiming in.
"Having extra eyes and ears can only serve to benefit you," one stated.
"We won't let you down," another added.
The shadow pup popped from Tymon's shadow. When did he get in there? After a skeptical approach, he started to sniff the group of klevonians. Judging from its reaction, it didn't sense anything off about the group.
Animals typically had a sixth sense about people, so Tymon took it into mind.
At least the dog trusts them, he thought as he considered things.
Initially reluctant due to preferring to work alone and without hindrances, Tymon had to admit that Cindar was an unfamiliar place and filled with powerful potential obstacles and threats. He couldn't simply fight his way through everyone, so increasing his reconnaissance was a wiser choice.
His shoulder slumped.
"Fine," he sighed, accepting their offer.
The others looked ecstatic as they rose to a stand.
"From this day forward, we Deviants are at your beck and call," Gahiji informed him formally with his fist pressed to his chest. The others followed suit.
"Now that you're officially our patron, there's something you need to see."
