Luckily, this time, I woke up early; about 7.
I was still a bit tired, but, hey, what else is new?
Looking down, I realized I had forgotten to change into my pajamas the night before. Then again, it was fine. No one would notice, right?
Well, except maybe you, but thats besides the point.
I quickly dressed myself, and headed back to the living room. I only had about 3 days left, and I had to make the most of it. Right? Right. I turned my head, and saw my aunt making breakfast; pancakes and bacon. I felt a smirk on my face. I always loved the food she cooked. No matter what it was, it always smelled and tasted delicious.
I couldnt let myself get too distracted, though. I returned to my poker-face and walked up to her. "Hello!" I said. "Do you want some help?"
I was hoping that maybe, just maybe she would recognize my voice. Or that she would notice my attempt to help her out; something I always did when I visited her. But instead, she just shook her head and smiled. "Oh, no need for that. I have it all handled." I nodded, and managed to smile back.
I was slowly but surely running out of hope. Nia didnt remember me, and neither did Cassie. Mom and Dad didnt even recognize me, and now even my own aunt..
Suddenly, a thought came to mind. I grinned wider than I ever have. I ran outside, and started bolting down the street. I only had one thought in mind.
Allison.
By the time I made it to her house, I was panting and covered in sweat. Her house was quite a distance from my aunt's. I rang the doorbell.
I was greeted by the soft, warm face I had known for months. Her eyes sparkled like the stars. I could feel myself blushing, but managed to hide it. Even though we had technically "broken up" I still had feelings for her. I couldnt make them go away. How could I? Allison was probably the most amazing person on the planet.
She stared at me, and, for a second, I thought she had finally remembered me. But then the realization came that I was probably just some stranger standing in her doorway awkwardly staring at her. "Hello..?" She asked, breaking my train of thought. I was a bit shocked, and I took a second to gain my composure. "O-Oh! Hello!" I wasnt sure of what to say next. "How was your day?" I mentally face-palmed myself. What kind of question is that? However, she just chuckled. "It was good so far, although I just kinda woke up." I laughed at her response. We ended up just going on and on about random topics for about half an hour. Eventually, I thought it was time to leave. I felt as if she had remembered me, and soon the demon-guy-person-thing would come and put me back into existence or something like that.
Until I finally waved goodbye. "Hey, by the way, I dont think I ever got your name."
There was a pain in my chest and I felt as if someone had just stabbed me, over and over. I felt like crying, but then I realized I couldnt. Not in front of her. I'd probably just make myself look stupid, if anything. "Oh, haha. Right. My name is Kayla. Kayla Andersen." She smirked. "Im Nathans. Allison Nathans." I nodded. "Well, it was nice meeting you, Allison." "You too, Kayla."
I stepped off the porch, and suddenly, Allison called my name. "Oh! Wait a second. Before you go.."
"Is it okay if I call you Kayla-Chan?"
I started to panic. That was Allison's old nickname for me. Was there a chance she remembered me?
"Oh, yeah, sure! Thats cool." "Cool!" she waved once again, and then closed her door.
The walk home was not a pleasant one. I was felt with mixed emotions, I had a massive migraine and my chest ached. I kept myself busy with a bunch of theories about if she recognized me, and I ended up zoning out.
It wasnt late by the time I got home; it was 12pm. But I still didnt want to do anything, and I was still in pain, so I forced myself to fall asleep and told myself I'd do it when I woke up.
Whenever that was.
