The sun, a radiant guardian, painted the quiet town of Helslip with golden hues, casting its warmth over Naomi and James. Her head nestled gently on his chest, finding a rare solace in his embrace. A proud smile adorned James' face, relishing this moment of closeness born from the aftermath of another tumultuous argument with her parents.
His hands, seeking reassurance, traced comforting circles on her back, a silent lullaby whispered through the hum of his lips. Soft strokes slid up her shirt, an unwarranted intrusion that jolted Naomi from the tranquility she sought in his arms. The tender snooze she indulged in, guided by the rhythmic beat of his heart, shattered like delicate glass.
James, however, persisted in his pursuit, cupping her bottom with a familiarity she had not granted. In an instant, Naomi sprang to her feet, a flurry of panic and discomfort. Whispers of "What are you doing?" escaped her lips as she tugged down at her skirt, a futile attempt to reclaim a semblance of control.
His gaze, gleaming with evident nerves, met Naomi's, and a hand found its place on her cheek. "Babe, we've been dating for a long time now. Don't I have the right to caress my girlfriend?" His words hung in the air, a desperate plea wrapped in entitlement.
The atmosphere shifted, a charged exchange of frustration. "I'm not ready yet," Naomi said, mentally scolding herself for the timidity in her voice. His sharp breath echoed the impatience that simmered beneath the surface, pushing her toward the door in a silent plea for escape.
But James, a tempest of emotions, seized her arm, the grip a chilling echo of his icy resolve. "I love you so much. And I would do anything for you. Just this one thing I ask of you, and you can't give it to me. Is it that you don't love me?" His words hung in the air, a cloud of confusion enveloping Naomi.78Please respect copyright.PENANAfYy7FUaE6W

Leaning in, he pressed his lips against hers, a moment fraught with expectations and unspoken desires. His movements, like a seductive sonnet, failed to elicit response. Naomi's body, like a fortress, shut down as James's lips, dry and cracked, landed on hers.A gentle bite on her lower lip, a persuasive touch like a painter coaxing life into a canvas, met stoicism.
Frustration surged through James, his hold on her waist tightening like a vice, a whimper escaping her in protest. In disgust, Naomi's arms, like avenging angels, raised and pushed against his chest. Eyes snapping open, he stumbled backward, shocked by the force of her resistance. "What... what are you doing?" He inquired, confusion painting his features.
Inhaling a breath, Naomi exhaled a request, her voice a soft breeze. "Can you please open the door? I want to go." Laughter, cold as a winter wind, bubbled up from James. "I'm not going to do that," he declared. Fear etched Naomi's face as she recoiled, a dance of vulnerability and aggression unfolding in the confined space. James advanced towards her like a predator stalking its prey. Veins pulsating, his cold hands on her, his grip like chains of possession.
His crimson gaze fixated on her, hands cold and possessive. "But what you can do is stop acting like a baby and just lay down here with me." His grip tightened, a subtle reminder of his dominion.
No!" Naomi's exclamation cut through the tension, hands snatching away like a bird breaking free. "James, please. Open the door. Or I swear. I'll scream." A threatening finger, like a sword unsheathed, pointed towards him.
His gaze, plain lust etched in every line, shifted to the couch and back to Naomi. A flash of desire danced in his eyes, but the risk of exposure quelled his darker urges. Fear overcame her. Refusing to let it show, she held her ground as James, sighing like a departing storm, decided to let it go, a vow for a next time lingering in the air
"Whatever," he muttered, ego and self-respect like fragile glass being pieced back together. Unlocking the door, he stared daggers at her. "Next time, don't come here to seek any comfort. It's obvious you don't love me. You can leave." The venomous words, like a bitter potion, accomplished their mission as her eyes softened.
Naomi refused to succumb to the urge to apologize to him. She knew she deserved better and it was about time she started creating boundaries. "James, I wanna be with someone that loves me unconditionally. That comforts me because they care and not because they want something in return." James scowled at her, this was an insult to him. In his eyes she was practically calling him an idiot .
"Get out" he sneered. She sighed softly and walked out the door, flinching as the door slammed shut behind her.

Naomi ambled down the road, embracing herself against the evening breeze, a companion whispering secrets of an impending rain. Overhead, clouds gathered like conspirators, hinting at an imminent rainfall. A begrudging sigh escaped her as she approached the familiar façade of her home and she reluctantly accepted the reality—James had cast her out, leaving her with no sanctuary but the tense refuge of her parental abode. Anna, her best friend, was a distant option, as Naomi refused to be a burden.78Please respect copyright.PENANA81qcHlyiLD

Pushing open the door, she was met with her mother's glare, a tempest brewing within the walls of her house. "Where have you been!" the booming accusation echoed. Naomi sighed; two seconds in, and the house reverberated with confrontation.
"I took a stroll around, just to get some fresh air." Dismissing the atmosphere, she closed the door behind her. "I'll be in my room," she declared, attempting an escape up the stairs. Her mother, however, stood as an unyielding obstacle, blocking her way.
"Did you wash the dishes that were in the sink?" Her mother inquired her eyes squinted, seeking for a reason to quarrel
"Yes."
"Did you take care of the laundry?"
"Yes, I did." Naomi answered, a fatigued sigh escaping her
"Did you dust the house?"
"Yes, I did."
"Did you..." Naomi preempted her mother's interrogation.
"Yes, Mom, I did everything that I was supposed to do," she asserted.
"How dare you interrupt me?" Mary's glare intensified, animosity painting her gaze. The disbelief lingered as if questioning how she could be the mother of this perceived 'thing.' "Where are the groceries I told you to get for me?"
Naomi's heart skipped a beat. "Groceries," she breathed. She just realised that she had left the bag of groceries at James' place. Naomi couldn't possibly tell her mother that she had been at James' place.
"No, not groceries. I said kidneys." Mary's palms extended towards Naomi accusingly. "Where are my groceries?!" she yelled.
"I... I," Naomi gulped, the words leaving her mouth like nails through wood. Mary stared, hawk-like, demanding answers. "I forgot to buy them." Naomi lied through clenched teeth.
A millimeter of squinted eyes conveyed Mary's skepticism. "So where is the money?"
"Uhhm... Uhm. I don't have it."
"Are you stupid? Do I look like a fool to you? Give me the money." Mary paused, her eyes narrowing another millimeter. "Ohhhhh. So you took MY money and went to go and give it to your boyfriends. Right!"
Naomi shook her head rapidly, tears clouding her eyes before cascading down her cheeks. "What? No, no. I would never."
"Then where is my money, little girl!"
Why all the yelling" Joseph's inquiry echoed through the house, an ominous precursor to his imposing figure descending the stairs. Fear gripped Naomi as her giant of a father joined the scene, signaling the impending storm within the walls of her childhood home.
"Your stupid pig of a daughter took My money to go and give it to her boyfriends"
" Excuse me?" Joseph yelled as his eyes landed on a shivering Naomi. In a matter of seconds, he was in front of her, holding tightly onto her arms with his rough hands she shrieked at the force of his grip. Naomi could swear that she heard a bone snap. " Where is the money your mother gave you?" he asked calmly but his eyes sang a whole different tune. 'I'll kill you' they whispered
"I didn't take it to any boyfriends I swear. "
"So you're calling my wife a liar?" he questioned, his eyes squinted, the grip on he arm tightening with every second. Naomi shook her head viciously
"No. I would never do that " she wailed
He raised her overhead, Naomi's face drained of color. "WHERE IS THE MONEY!" he growled.78Please respect copyright.PENANA622tyYJ698

""I don't have it. Please," she squealed, before his enormous hands descended, slapping her across the face with a force that sent her crashing to the floor. In the far distance, Naomi heard Mary's fearful gasp.
"Joseph, don't slap her!" Mary shrieked.
Naomi lay tired and pained on the floor, tears streaming down her face. "Where is the money!" he yelled.
"James!" she yelled, repeating the name like a desperate mantra. "James!" The words slipped from her mouth like bitter wine.
Her mother gasped, a hand covering her mouth. Naomi curled into herself on the ground, head in folded arms as her legs pressed toward her chest. "Who is James?" she heard her father ask.
"It's Susan's boy," her mother answered. "I told you this girl was a prostitute." Mary accused, raising an accusing finger toward her daughter. "She's been frolicking around with boys. Why did you have to choose from that poor family? James, of all people, who wears the same pair of shoes every single day. STUPID GIRL! You need to go and find your real mother because it's obviously not me. I can't give birth to a stupid child like you."
"Deal with your daughter," Joseph murmured as he turned back to his room.
"Piece of rubbish," Naomi heard her mother say. Her mother's arms gripped her on each side, and she felt herself being dragged out of the house. "Since you want to go and spread your legs for boys, I give you my blessings. Go and do what you want. But don't even think of coming back to this house without my money. Or else I'll skin you alive." BANG. Another door slammed shut, a harsh punctuation to the night's relentless cruelty.
She scanned her surroundings, the sun long gone, leaving only the moon and dim streetlights to guide her way. Panic gnawed at her; she was lost, uncertain of her next step. James, the one person who should have offered refuge, had tossed her out without a second thought, and she had no choice but to comply. Now, her groceries were stranded at his place, and her mother wouldn't tolerate her return without them. Fear clung to her like a shroud; she couldn't escape the memory of James's lecherous gaze, nor the line he had crossed. Going back to him, especially at night, felt like a dangerous gambit she couldn't afford.

With resolve, Naomi pushed herself to her feet, shivering in the night's chill, and began to walk, clutching herself for warmth. She froze when she noticed a group of men approaching, her instincts screaming danger. She quickly turned to retreat, but it was too late; they had already spotted her. "Hey, sweetheart, come here," they called out. She ignored their lecherous invitation, quickening her pace and gasping for breath. Their tone darkened as they yelled, "Hey! We said come here!" The malice in their voices sent her heart pounding with fear. Naomi picked up to a jog, and as she sensed them drawing nearer, she broke into a full sprint. Multiple footsteps echoed behind her, confirming her worst fear: they were chasing her, and they were far too close for comfort.
