The family of three stood in front of the stairs that led to the gate of the cruise ship.
“Woah. It’s a big ship, but where is everyone?” Ryan asked.
They stood in front of a ship with red railings and 6 floors.
“Welcome to the Bahamas Cruise Ship! Get up the stairs to get this fun goin!” A worker standing next to the gray shiny stairs said.
All of the three went on the stairs behind each other. Ryan first, Melinda second, and Marvin last.
“It feels like we are late. Maybe that is why no one is outside, or maybe we are too early,” Ryan spoke to the two behind him.
The three of them made it up the stairs, with 2 servants on each side of the wide-open door welcoming them in.
“Welcome! Proceed to enter inside! The other servants will guide you to the lobby, where you can check into your cabin!”
They entered, and while they walked through the long, red-carpeted royal hallway, they walked into the centre of the cruise ship, where they realized they might be one of the only ones on the cruise ship.
They stood in the centre. Their shoes are on top of the zebra-designed carpeted floor, with two large rectangular prism pillars on both sides, and a chandelier that is extended from the ceiling, which was 3 floors away.
A servant walked up to the group of three, “Hello! My name is Rosetta. I will be your personal servant throughout your journey on this ship!”
“ye-hello, eh are you sure we are not the only ones on this ship? No one is around,” Ryan asked.
“Ah, yes. The other 7 guests are already in their cabins! The ship is set to sail out into the ocean shortly, and it is required for all of you to be in your cabins until dinner time, which will be served two hours from now, 6:20 pm”
“yeah okay but SEVEN ONLY?”
“Hold on. 7? On this large commercial cruise ship?” Marvin intervened.
“This is a winner’s only journey, Mr Marvin.”
Marvin turned back to his family and whispered, “did we sign up for this?”
“I didn’t,” Ryan responded.
“Neither did I,” Melinda spoke for the first time ever since she entered the cruise ship since she was in awe ever since the family entered, and continued to stare at the large silver chandelier above her.
Marvin turned to Rosetta and told her, “None of us signed up for this though.”
“No one did, Mr Marvin. Your family and the rest were chosen randomly! You should consider yourself lucky!”
“Lucky, I guess.”
“Now, Mr Marvin, let me guide you and your wonderful family to the cabin.”
The family followed the servant obediently and watched in disbelief the glamorous aesthetic and style of the cruise ship. Everything was white and bright. Everything was modern.
“To your right is the Arcade Room, where your son, Ryan, and the others on board will be able to play together!”
“Others?”
They went up to the last floor and walked across the Cabin Corridor to their room.
“This is it! Here are your keys,” she handed everyone their keys, “your room is Cabin #87. Opposite this cabin is another occupied cabin.”
the three looked around, unable to keep their thoughts straight. 7 others only? That is the thought that went through all their heads, even the servant.
“I will leave you to it!”
“Thank you,” Marvin said as she walked the other way.
Marvin scanned his key card on the door and opened the door.
They entered and were in a large living room. Fluffy white sofa, 75-inch tv in the middle, and a kitchen to their right. On their left, there were two doors, one for the master bedroom, and the other for Ryan.
The beds had a pastel blue layering on top, with side tables on each side. Everything was sparkling clean. That is something they noticed since they entered the cruise ship. It was like no one ever entered this cruise ship since it was made.
“So…what do we do now?” Ryan asked.
“I guess we just chill in here until they tell us dinner is ready. You might be able to make new friends!” His mother responded.
“I am not here to make friends. I want to unwind and feel at peace for once.”
“We all do, honey, but friends make it better!”
“I guess I will check out tomorrow then.”
His mother walked to him and touched his shoulders with both of her hands.
“It is time to move on, son. Make new friends! Start a new life! 10 years of our lives were wasted, let us not waste more, okay?”
“I guess.”
“I will go and unpack the suitcases, go around and check the room!”
Ryan walked towards the balcony, which was located in his bedroom. He opened the window doors and walked inside. He sat on the white metal chair outside and looked and the dark, smelly world under him.
BUMMMMMMM
The ship started to move, he watched the floor under him move against the waterway below him. He entered the new world. A new world on the water.
