This was originally published on Dec. 28, 2008 on alt.startrek.creative for their Majel Barrett Roddenberry tribute and won the 2008 Best Original Series Challenge. The text here is from a slightly expanded version (753 words) I put on deviantart In 2011.

I put it up now as an example of a Flashfic tribute of the type that I am hoping for for my Spock's Katra challenge (see the FanFiction society)
