Kahlem knew Malich had amassed a large kingdom and cursed the day his younger brother was ever born. Almost immediately he saw the favor his father showed to Malich. He was the youngest of eight and yet somehow he had more fire in his soul than all seven of his elder brothers. As he grew, Kahlem knew Malich would pose a great threat to his position as heir to the throne.
It was easy to plant seeds in Arokin and Bevi against Malich. Both were next in succession and coveted the crown as much as Kahlem did. His other brothers Odious, Odin, Rhesus, and Cassius weren’t as easily swayed. They drank father’s proclamations of the greatness in his youngest son, as his words were gospel instead of the ramblings of a madman, alwayshis youngest son. The great Simeon Jarrah never spoke of Kahlem, Arokin or Bevi the way he spoke of young Mal. It wasn’t long before he had the entire Kingdom singing Malich’s praises.
Kahlem enters his sitting room, shoulders back, chest out, wearing his family crest with pride. Arokin and Bevi are waiting, their brides praising Sen for her beauty in some far off quarter.
“Many of our allies have requested council with Malich,” Bevi spoke before Kahlem could even sit down. “I told you giving him back his birthright would come back to bite us in the arse.”
Deep in thought Arokin adds, “He’s become more of a threat than we could have ever imagined.”
“And did you see the Unseelie King and Seelie Queen at his side?” Bevi nods in agreement. “They’re equally as dangerous. Together the three kingdoms could cripple us all. Hell, our brother alone could do that. We need stronger allies.”
“Aye, but that alone won’t help us,” Kahlem sighs. “We need to break their alliance.”
“Yes, but how?” Arokin sank back in his chair.
“The queen won’t leave his side without the right bait, and the Unseelie king, he fights for the Queen. Did you see the way he looked at her, watchedher?” Kahlem smiles. “What do we know about the Unseelie King?”
“His country is low on resources, his coffers are practically empty thanks to his mother and her lover, and his countrymen have no faith in the new King,” Sen speaks, approaching.
“Your source?” Kahlem slides his prideful eyes up her length.
“Women talk your Majesty,” Sen devours him with her eyes. There are few women in his life he’s ever found even remotely close to an equal, but Sen…she was his equal and then some. Her thirst for power outweighed his own and she would do anything to keep it at all costs. Her grin deepens. “So do chambermaids. According to the Unseelie King’s mother’s ladies in waiting, she allowed former king Lucien Amunrah to kill King Rayne’s father, giving him full go of the coffers and the kingdom. That which he depleted faster than he depleted Akasha Rayne’s resolve.”
“That is our opening,” Kahlem winks at Sen, thanking her for the leverage. He’d thank her more personally later. “Arrange council with the young King and lets prepare to make him an offer he can’t refuse.”
Arokin jumps to his feet and hurries off to make sure Kahlem’s demands come to fruition. Kahlem excuses himself from the room and Sen follows. He enters his bedchamber not bothering to close the door behind him and discards articles of clothing along the way. Sen locks the door behind him and discards her own clothing as she tracks him to their bed. She shoves him back onto the bed and he acquiesces to her dominance. She takes a mouthful of him in and he grips the soft blankets beneath him, clenching it in his fists as she threatens to drive him to climax within seconds. She’s truly a master with that tongue of hers and he enjoys every bit of it.
Sen pulls herself up to eye level before he loses his grip on his lineage and crushes her mouth to his. She straddles him, running her nails like knives over his chest; reopening old wounds she’s given him.
She rips open his pants with her nails, gripping the length of him and sinks down on his hardness. Kahlem kicks his head back and curses. For all his power and his cunning, this petite woman is able to both disarm and disable him at once.
Sen keeps her eyes locked on his, rocking her hips back and forth daring him to hold out. Her belly swells just a little and the thought of the life inside swells him with pride. His lineage spills from him. He shudders underneath her and falls flat gasping for air. She leans over him, pressing kisses into his skin. “The Seelie Queen, Arya…I want her dead,” she breathes against his skin.
Kahlem grips her shoulders and sits her up. “She is a Queen. Killing a Queen would be an act of war,” he eyes her incredulously.
Undeterred, Sen replies, “It wouldn’t be the first time you moved against a King or Queen, would it?” His blood runs cold. The implication alone could jeopardize everything he’s worked for. He strikes Sen across the face and lifts her up off of him. She backs away, cowering from his wrath.
“You speak poison,” he glares at her. “If the Seelie Queen poses a further threat after all we have in store for her I will deal with her on my own terms…not yours.”
Still shielding her face and her womb, Sen nods. Kahlem feels instant regret. He closes the space between them, pulling her into his arms, apologizing for his quick temper. Sen wraps her arms around him glad he’s forgiven her wayward tongue.
“First my brother and then we will deal with the Queen,” he promises.
Looking up at him, one hand on her womb she smiles warmly and says, “For the future of our children.” Kahlem nods in agreement. He turns her around and bends her down over the bed, slips himself inside her, and conquers her from behind to thank her for the leverage she gifted him.ns 18.104.22.168da2
