Men of my generation are in need of a better roadmap for identifying and overcoming their insecurities that doesn’t compromise their desire for excellence. This collection of short stories serves to acknowledge some of my own more abstract aspirations but also the insecurities that lie in opposition to them. In doing so, I validate the confusion and vulnerability associated with entering adulthood that we all experience.

The Lightbringer reconstructs the idea of the hero. The popular representation of heroes has left young men with unrealistic expectations that can have harmful consequences. Each story follows the protagonist, Lux’aran, at different points in his non-linear journey of self-discovery and improvement. Lux talks to a variety of individuals to better understand how to use his fantastic skills, both inherent and learned, to better himself and the world around him.
