The task is to write some lore based on this creature and maybe even the little girl on the shore. There is no specific genre to follow; just write whatever takes you, be it fantasy, romance, mystery, etc.. There is no word count limit. Have fun with it! Suppose your protagonist comes across a mystical item or magical, mischievous creature that grants them a wish. Once it is granted, however, it immediately backfires and has terrible consequences.

A dead lover brought back from the dead, but reincarnated as a vampire? An old man wishes for eternal youth, but becomes trapped in eternal infancy? Or maybe a man wishes to be king, but gets thrown into a timeline when a revolution is knocking down his door?

These are just a few examples. You are only limited by your imagination! No word limit or genre limit. Just write with whatever makes you feel comfortable. I look forward to seeing what you all will create!

Hey guys! I got another image I want to share for this contest.

I will show a picture that I have and the task is to write a story around it. I do my walks around my neighborhood, and part of my route runs alongside the hills (I live on the outer edge of my town). Along with a couple of cows grazing, this structure sits on the side of a hill:

There are several other similar structures can be seen scattered in the hills, but this is the most prominent one.

The genre can be whatever you want. Mystery, thriller, horror, fantasy, supernatural, etc. based on the image. Give it back story, perhaps. Be creative and have fun!

I will show a picture that I have and the task is to write a story around it. I saw this on while walking home from at night. Anyway, I walk through this abandoned-looking, creepy part on my way home, having some kind of Urbex feeling in me. The place looks abandoned yet the lights are on.

You, or your character, is spending their winter break with their friends and/or family in a big, luxurious cabin. Though the inside it is nice and cozy, the wind is strong and the snow is quite heavy. Last night, you heard a sound, saw something out your window, sensed something supernaturally, etc., that makes you think something bad is out there and may threaten you or your friends.

Do you tell your friends/family?

Do they believeyou when you tell them?

Is the threat realor just your imagination?

These are just a few ideas.

This story can be in either third, second, or first person.

Most importantly, have fun!

You, or your character, is driving down an empty road. The car being driven starts to have problems. This forces you to stop in a seemingly abandoned town. You have weird feeling about this place. Maybe you feel like you are not alone, through some supernatural means you think someone around here needs your help, etc..

This can be first, third, or second person. Your choice.

Imagine that you / a character you made lives in a village or neighborhood near a forest. It is a mysterious forest that many people, over decades, seldom want to enter. Furthermore, there are legends about a creature (or creatures) that live in it. One day, the character decides to enter the woods for whatever reason (find a lost friend, hear about hidden treasure, etc. ) and runs into it/them, this mysterious creature(s).

Is it a grotesque monster, responsible for the disappearances of some of your neighbor's loved ones, or is it a benevolent wisp that only wants to help?

What happens to them? Does it change their way of life? Do they gain powers? Are they given a new purpose in life that fate has given them?

Above are just a few examples of the possible outcomes. You can make up your own! You are only limited to your imagination. This can be medieval or modern. This can be horror, fantasy, etc. whatever genre you feel comfortable writing with is fine.

You can write in either first or third person.

You live in a city where crime runs rampant. One day, you save a young boy's life, not knowing that he is the crime lord's son. In doing so, you have joined the no-harm list.

What are you going to do?

Write a story no more than 10000 words telling me what happens. This could be in first person or third person. Be creative, go nuts, and have fun!

You are a monster tracker of some renown. A historian wants to collect as much information about your homeland as possible, which includes cataloging all the strange creatures that inhabit it. Of course, being so busy, you only have time to tell him about one very particular beast...

Is the monster humanoid or eldritch in appearance?

I'm curious to see how the community would have written the story inspired by the video linked below. I used this video as inspiration for my short story "Dancing under the Ashes" which I tried to publish to a magazine. If anyone is up for the challenge, I would like for you to write under the same rules I was under.

- The story must be under 1,500 words

- Must be a speculative Sci-Fi, Fantasy or Slipstream self-contained story

-Tell the story hidden in the picture and music

I'll leave off the formating because It's not needed. I know this is a picture contest but you can take inspiration from the music too.

I tried my best to uncover the story in this picture and song but was unsatisfied, maybe the great writers on here can do it justice.

This is a short story contest where your hero joins the dark side. Show how the good guy turns bad.

Short or long story. Winners are chosen based on creativity and originality.

This contest is about putting dark and sinister twist to any creatures or figures coming from folklore and legends. You can reverse the evil to good and vice versa  backgrounds of each one in the ending, the important central part of this contest is how twisted or witty these transitions would go.  The more appalling, unexpected or shocking and especially original the twist would be wins. A creature or figure from your own native folklore would be a plus point.

Go wild, take on that dark whispers and imaginations at the back of your mind and enjoy!

The maximum time limit is around 30 mins.

I'm sorry, but vampire, werewolves, and immortals aren't going to be accepted.
