"What the fuck?" Rio yelled out as he struggled to find a non squishy place to land.
He was unable to return above ground as the hole that had brought him here had long been filled by flesh. He was not stuck in what appeared to be some form of a tunnel system with pathways and openings strung about in different directions. This was the first time he'd been able to really take in his surroundings and he wasn't exactly enjoying himself.
As Rio made his landing begrudgingly a new message flashed in his mind.
"New mission from Alberoth: Put the false god in its place."
[Reward varied dependent on your performance]
As Rio read the mission, he could feel Alberoths smugness radiating from the words.
"Look at this guy. He's like a pot calling the kettle black."
Rio lets out a chuckle as a sharp pain radiates in his head.
"Ouch. If you can't take the heat, just get out of the kitchen!" Rio complains to Alberoth as his pain increases before fading altogether.
With the pain gone, all that remains is the constant humming sound. It was the same sound as before but it seemed to have increased in volume.
"looks like the closer I get to whatever this so-called god is, the louder the humming becomes. As annoying as this is, it does make for a good tracker."
Rio Takes a bit of time getting himself acquainted with the area before summoning his servants to his side when a small problem arrives.
an alarming message flashed in Rio's mind.
"Psamathe's Domain had restricted the use of my powers"
"What! That's bull shit! How am I supposed to fight this thing if you won't let me use my abilities!" Rio yells out.
"Do not yell at me dog! This was an unexpected occurrence for me as well. Back in my time, something like this would have been near impossible. It seems that in my weakened state, even a false god like this can restrict my influence."
Rio can feel Alberoths unease as his presence fades.
Rio had no idea what to do next and decided that waiting around was probably the best option.
Although he wouldn't be able to rely on his other servants for assistance, He still had Panoply who had remained by his side at all times.
Morphing Panoply around his body Rio began his search for the mysterious deity. He began by flying in a circular pattern around the perimeter of the room passing by multiple tunnel openings along the way.
Using his increased hearing, Rio was trying to find the proper tunnel to lead him further in. After a few cycles Rio decided on a single path. It wasn't much but the sound of the humming was definitely louder down this path.
Rio began flying down the tunnel taking in his surroundings as he flew. The walls were covered in an unknown dark red matter as the walls pulsated violently flinging the matter around the tunnels.
As the matter was flung from the walls, a small amount of it landed on Rio causing him to briefly land on the ground.
"Ugh. That is way too gross," Rio complains as he begins shaking his fur to fling off as much of the liquid as he could.
After feeling that he had released as much of the liquid as he could, he began lifting himself into the air when he felt a strong resistance pulling him down by his feet. He tried pushing ahead but his efforts were near useless. A collection of red stringy substances began wrapping around Rio's legs and were pulling him back down towards the ground.
"This isn't good," Rio mumbles while struggling to break free of the sticky substance.
Struggling and failing to free himself with his own strength, Rio remembers his time climbing Mount Konte and begins to form Panoply into a set of sharp talons on his feet.
Spinning his body Rio begins to tear through the strings releasing himself from their grasp.
As he tore the strings apart, new ones had begun to rise from the ground in even larger numbers.
As they rose from the ground Rio tried his hardest to cut them down, but unlike his stamina, there seemed to be no end to these things.
He continued to rip through them, but the number kept growing and growing with each moment.
Before long, there was a horde of the things large enough to fill the entirety of the tunnel rushing towards him, trying to grasp whatever they could.
Rio's eyes widened as he watched them fill the tunnel behind him and quickly decided to forgo his earlier plan.
He stopped his assault and flew as fast as he could down the tunnel. He didn't know what awaited ahead of him but it had to have been better than what was currently chasing him.
