Rio Didn't want to admit it but he knew exactly what that meant.
"No... It can't be.." Rio said sadly.
"Rachel?"
He couldn't believe it.
The thought that Rachel was actually the monster rampaging in front of him was hard to comprehend. But there was no doubt in Rio's mind. It was her.
He didn't know how she ended up like this but he couldn't help but worry.
He couldn't just leave her like this.
He had to save her.
Jeremy had finished drawing his next chalk monster and Rio wasted no time sending it towards Rachel followed by Vector.
It seemed like a waste of time but they had to try it.
The chalk drawing jumped right at her while Vector leaped above her head and brought his knees down on her.
Using his weight he slammed into her head while the drawing restricted her movement.
But as expected, she was completely unharmed and easily knocked Vector right out of the air.
She then used a snake-like arm to wrap around the drawing, squeezing tightly until it shattered.
Rio's eyes widened as he watched in disbelief, knowing that there was nothing he could do but watch as she turned her attention back to him.
Rio's heart raced as she closed in on him, who was now backed into the corner of the room with Jeremy. She didn't even bother using her claws, instead choosing to use her fangs to bite down on him.
She is inches from his body when she suddenly begins convulsing and her eyes begin glowing.
"What is going on?" Rio asked as he watched helplessly as she began transforming.
The room began to shake as Rachel's body thrashed around the room.
Her form continued to shift but this time, he could see her human form taking hold every now and then. Her body would appear human for a few seconds before reverting back into a beast.
It was as if she was fighting for control of her body.
But it didn't seem to be working.
She couldn't maintain control as the beast kept coming back to her.
Soon, Rio was unable to even see her anymore as the beast had seemed to have regained control over her body.
She may have lost this battle but she gave Rio one last chance for survival.
The beast's body began to shift once more for the final time.
It had shrunk down into the form of a small dog.
It was as if Rio was staring into a mirror. An extremely viscous mirror.
The beast's strength was clearly weaker but without Vector or Zack in fighting condition, Rio had no chance against the beast.
He had only two options left and neither of them were very appealing. He either had to surrender and let it kill him or abandon the only other person he felt that he could trust.
Thinking for a moment, Rio made his decision.
Rio pressed his chest forward and stood his ground.
"Even if it kills me, I will set you free from this curse!"
He ran towards the beast with his immense speed and using his momentum, He crashed himself into the beast's face.
He was able to get in one good punch before he was sent flying by a powerful blow to the chest.
Rio was sent sliding across the room before slamming against a pillar causing it to crumble on top of him. His body ached from the impact but he knew that it was a price he was willing to pay.
The beast was roaring as it charged towards Rio, ready to finish him off, but before the beast could reach him, an unexpected visitor entered the scene.
"Well if it isn't the beast in action."
The Beast stopped dead in its tracks as it stared down at the tall man that had just appeared.
The man flicked his hands through the inside of his coat and pulled out a small handgun before pointing it at the beast.
"I thought it would take a bit longer before I found you, but to think you would cause such a ruckus so late at night.
Some of us are trying to sleep, you know.
You should be doing the same."
And with that, The man had shot three bullets into the beast's small body.
"This should surely be enough to knock you out." The man said with a smile as he holstered his gun and began walking towards the Beast.
The beast began to fall to the ground as the bullets had taken effect.
Before long, It was lying unconscious on the floor.
The man approached slowly as he took in the sight of the beast laying there, almost as though it was a child that needed to be put to bed.
He picked it up and began taking it away.
Rio knew that he couldn't let him take her but was unable to escape the rubble that had fallen on top of him.
He tried to push himself up with his arms and legs but failed to move an inch.
"No, Don't take her!"
Rio screamed as the man left the scene with a smirk.
Rio's eyes were filled with anger as his fatigue took hold over him.
With his adrenaline gone, Rio's body began to give out as he passed out beneath the rubble.
