Damon POV
I stayed by Raines' side all night. Nothing or no one could take me away, she should be walking soon. It's been a rough ride for Raine, I only hope I can make it better. I plan on telling her everything, I don't want to overwhelm her but the sooner I tell her the better. I'm pulled from my thoughts as I hear the sheets rustling next to me, my grip on her hand tightens as I look up, seeing her moving her head and slowly opening her eyes.
"Alpha?" Her voice croaked. I grab some water for her as I can only imagine how dry her throat must be.
"Here Raine, drink this" I say passing her the glass, I watch as she drinks the entire glass. I take the glass away as she gasps for air, I smile at her pure beauty regardless of her injuries.
"Thank you alpha" her voice soft and low it's like a perfect melody to my ears
"You're very welcome Raine, please call me Damon." I smile at her as she smiles at me. "Raine I must speak with you regarding a few things, I would wait until you are better but I feel you should know now" I stop to make sure Raine is still listening
"Yes alpha, I mean Damon what is it?"
"Raine there's no other way to say this but you are my mate and I would very much love it if you could live with me at my pack house. Obviously I'll give you your own room. I don't expect you to stay with me at first. It's just I've been waiting a very long time to find you and I can't let you go" I hadn't realized I had started to sweat profusely as I told her
"Oh well Um I mean I have nowhere else to go alpha so I guess it would be okay if I stayed. But alpha how do you know I am your mate? Are you sure you want me?" Raine is clearly nervous as she's playing with the sheets and biting her lips
"Raine when you were asleep did you feel anything that you've never felt before? A sort of pull to someone? You always have somewhere to go, little one, your parents are still waiting to see you."
"Urm well I guess there was a sort of tingling sensation, and when you spoke my wolf would get a small burst of energy. Alpha I'm not sure if I want to see them, I can't bear to look at them knowing that I've hurt them and embarrassed them. Plus Micheal told me my mother left me in those woods to die the day he took me" I watched her as her eyes started to fill with tears, the pain in her voice is evident without her even needing to cry. She's fighting to hold them back but one stray tear falls down her face, before she can wipe it away I gently wipe it away with my thumb taking a moment to caress her pale, soft skin. Our eyes lock onto each other the sparks surging through me like fire, Rikko is doing backflips which is annoying to say the least.
"Do you feel that Raine? That's the mate bond, it will only get stronger and in regards to Micheal your mother never left you. You were both playing and she lost you, you have never caused them embarrassment they have never stopped looking for you. They love you" Raine only nods in response to me as more tears roll down her face
"Raine I can't bare to see you cry, come here" I get up and hold my arms out hoping she would come to me and let me hold her. To my surprise she slowly moves towards me eventually accepting my embrace, her tears don't stop they only get worse. I lift her so she's on my lap, gently rocking back and forth to provide some comfort.
"It's okay little one, I'm here and I'm never leaving shhh" I soothe, her crying and hiccups start to slow we stay in the embrace for what feels like a mere minute before the doctor opens the door. Rikko is pissed, to say the least
"Excuse me alpha, I have the results from some tests I ran on miss Raine. You really need to hear this"
