It was a typical November morning for Henry. He woke up at 5:00am, followed his usual morning routine, and waited for his friend Sugi to arrive so they could walk to school together.
As usual, Sugi showed up at Henry's doorstep at 6:49am. "Sup," Sugi said, saluting Henry with one finger. "You ready?"
"Yeah," Henry replied, putting on his jacket. "Have you watched Darling in the Franxx yet?"
"Nah, but I've heard of it. Was that what you were just watching?" Sugi asked.
"Yeah, I started today. It's good, so you should watch it," Henry said as they began their walk to school.
"I'll think about it," Sugi said, ducking under a low-hanging branch. As they approached the school, Sugi had an idea. "Wanna make a bet?" he said slyly.
"Depends on what it is," Henry replied.
"If I beat you in a race to school, you have to give me your honeybun," Sugi said, already starting to run.
"Bet!" Henry shouted, running after him.
The two friends raced to the school, neck and neck the entire way. When they finally arrived, Sugi panted, "Lemme get my honeybun."
"Okay, okay," Henry said, reaching into his backpack. "Oh, wait. I forgot it."
"Alright, just give it to me tomorrow," Sugi said, walking into the cafeteria.
Henry followed him and sat down in the almost empty room. As more and more students arrived, Henry watched anime and greeted his friends Gaia and Kamui when they entered the cafeteria. When it was time for class, Henry couldn't shake the feeling that he wanted more out of life, like the adventures he saw in the anime he watched.
But his mundane existence was about to be interrupted in the most unexpected way. As he sat in class at 11:30am, Henry noticed that the wind outside was getting stronger and stronger. It wasn't a natural wind, he realized, and as he looked up at the sky, he saw the moon rapidly approaching.
"The moon is going to crash into earth," Henry thought, as the impact of the collision killed every living thing on the planet. "Damn..." were his final thoughts before the world went dark.
