You:
You walk down the stairs of your home. You run past your mom. “Love you mom!” You yell. “Bye, baby!” She calls. You’re rushing so you can get to school on time. You are dancing in the talent show today. You stayed up really late last night, practicing your choreography to the song you're gonna dance to. You jump into your car and then put the pedal to the metal.
Hoseok:
I walk into my new high school. I don’t know what to expect. A bully? I’m strong, I can protect myself. Girls going crazy over me? That, I cannot handle. Just then a girl in Air Jordans, black jeans, and a hoodie comes running towards me. Oh, shit. I just had to jinx it, didn’t I. I close my eyes and wait for her to barrel into me and ask me all these questions and fall in love with me.
I wait there but I don’t feel her. I open my eyes. She’s looking at me, standing in front of me, and she is utterly beautiful. Instead of her falling for me, I fall for her. “Excuse me? You’re standing in the middle of the hall. I need to get to my locker.” She says and points behind me. “Yes, of course. I’m sorry.” I say and move.
I watch her rush and open her locker. She puts her things away. I watch her pull an iPhone out of her backpack and put it in her back pocket. I’m still there when she turns back around. She looks at me. “Uhm, hi…?” She says. No, please don’t start liking me. Wait, what do I mean..? What do I want? “Are you new? I don’t recognize you,” The girl says. I fix my glasses that I wore to go with my outfit.
“Yes, I’m new.” I say. “Well, nice to meet you. I’m Y/n. What’s your name?” She asks. Oh, she’s really sweet. “My name is Hoseok,” I say and smile. She smiles back at me. She sticks out her hand and I shake it. “Where are you coming from?” She asks. “I’m from South Korea. I moved here two years ago. I went to Russel high school before.” I say. “Wow, South Korea. That’s really cool. And, welcome to Clarkson J. Falmouth high school. Or CJF, we know our school name is really long,” She says and laughs.
Her laugh is really nice. Genuine. “Thank you, Y/n,” I say. “I don’t want to be late to class, uhm…” She says. She looks around for a clock. “It’s 8:21. We start at 8:30. Uhm, what grade are you in?” She asks. “I’m a junior.” I say. “Okay, cool. What’s your first hour? May I see your schedule?” She asks. I hand her my schedule.
“Oh! Your locker is only four down from mine,” She says, leading me to my locker. “What grade are you?” I ask. “I am a junior as well. I’m sorry. I forgot to say that. I’m willing to help you figure out our school, if you’d like?” She says. I nod. “That’d be nice.” I say. I’ve never met someone this nice and genuine before. I like her. She smiles.
“Okay, so this right here?” She points to a code on my schedule. “It’s your locker number. Locker number 235, mine is 231. And see this number below that?” She asks, pointing again. She looks at me and I nod. “That’s your lock number. So, you’d put those in and it’ll open. I can hold your bag while you open your locker.” She says.
“Thank you.” I say and smile. I hand her my bag and she holds it while I unlock my locker. After the locker mess, she gives me a mini tour. “You have the same second hour, fourth hour, fifth hour, sixth hour and seventh hour with me. As well as lunch. So, you’re with me most of the day,” She says and looks at me and smiles funny. I laugh.
She walks me to my first hour. She grabs a piece of paper off the ground and writes with her own pen a number. “If you need me, just text me, okay?” She says and smiles. The bell rings. “Shit! Catch you later, Hoseok! Good luck!” She says as she runs off to class. I turn and go into the classroom. Immediately, girls stare at me and whisper. Oh, man. Not this again.
You:
You walk into your class 30 seconds late and still get yelled at. “Y/n! You are late!” Your teacher, Mr. Buk (Said like Mr. Buke...like puke but with a B and missing an E), bellows. “I know and I’m sorry. I was helping out a new student. And it was only 30-” You try. “Hush! Go take a seat. You are lucky the dean will still let you perform today.” Mr. Buk says.
Mean teacher. You know I am a good child. I do my work and have good grades. I never disrespect you. Well, never out loud anyways. Mr. Puke. You snicker and sit down in the middle row of the chairs. You watch the clock until the class ends. You check your phone once in the hall. But, Hoseok finds you on his own.
“Hello,” He says. You smile. “Hello, my friend! How did class go?” You say. The look on his face looks hurt for a moment. I wonder what is wrong… But his face changes quickly. Hm… “First hour was okay, sort of…” He says. “What do you mean?” You say. He looks behind you and you notice almost every girl staring at him.
“Oh...every girl likes you?” You whisper. “Yes,” He says. Just then you are pushed aside. You end up on the floor. You look up to see the four most popular girls. Then their leader, Amber. She looks down at you in disgust. She snickers like you did in Mr. Buk’s class. Then she gets all up in Hoseok’s face.
“Hi! What’s your name? Are you new? Why are you talking to that garbage?” She says, pointing to you. “That garbage that you pushed is my friend, isn’t that right, Y/n…?” Hoseok says, bending down and helping you up. When he said friend, his voice was tight. I wonder what is wrong. “Yes,” You answer.
Amber scoffs. “Okay, sure. You’ll come crawling to me when you realize she isn’t worth it.” She says. She and her minions walk off. “Thank you,” You say to Hoseok. He smiles but in his eyes, there is sadness. “Are you okay?” You ask. “Yes. Yes, I’m fine.” He answers. I don’t believe him. “Okay...Come. We have to go to class.” You say.
You show him around for the rest of the day. He sits with you and your friend, Ocean, at lunch. During seventh hour, the announcement comes on. “Anyone who is part of the talent show today, will you please come down to the auditorium? Thank you.” You stand up. “Wait, you’re part of the talent show?” Hoseok asks. “Yes,” You say and laugh. “What are you going to do?” He asks. “Dance.” You say.
“Will I be able to see?” He asks. “Yes, when the next announcement comes on, just follow Ocean and you’ll see me at some point.” You say. Hoseok looks to the front at Ocean. “Okay. I will cheer you on.” He says. “Thank you. That is very nice of you.” You say and bend down. You hug him as a friend. Isn’t friends all that we are…? He hugs you back. You walk out of the room and your heart beats fast. You look at your fitness tracker. 128 BPM. That’s a lot of beats per minute. What has caused this?
In the bathrooms next to the auditorium, you change your clothes. Your outfit for your performance is:
You chose this outfit to be comfortable but also look nice. It’s basic but it’ll do. After you change, you wait backstage until your name is called. When your name is called, you walk out onto the stage. People clap. You spot Amber and her friends. She’s smirking. “You got this Y/n!” You hear Ocean and Hoseok call. You smile and get ready to dance. You go to the space in the middle of the stage, your back is to the audience. The music to ‘Better’ by Khalid comes on. You turn around in a swift motion and--
Sorry for the cliffhanger ;) How’s your day going?
