I was just minding my own business. You know...tending my garden, making sure not too many barnacles were attaching themselves to my favorite statue. It was a beautiful clear day and I was admiring my favorite garden statue while humming my favorite tune, when I heard the creaking of wood and iron. I turned my head and saw in the distance that the light glittering on the waves above was interrupted by the hull of a moderately-sized ship.
"Great..." I complained to myself, preparing for land rubbish to start dropping down from above. Land faeries are such careless polluters.
Then I saw a coffin drop from the ship. I had only seen a coffin sink once before-with my grandmother. She told me to stay away from coffins because they carried decay and possibly disease.
Annoyed that the coffin was dropped so close to my garden, I decided to swim up and catch a glance at the polluting land faeries. When I broke the surface, I saw a merchant ship flying the sigil of nearby Spring Court. I groaned. The eastern coast of Spring Court was not too far. Why couldn't they wait to bury the dead body on land?
Still annoyed, I swam toward the ship. I heard weeping and arguing coming from its deck.
"It's your fault Father became ill!" A female voice shouted.
I swam even closer. I love drama. I mean: I love observing land faerie drama. Land faeries are very high strung compared to us chill water faeries. It must be all the direct sunlight they get.
