We left Savage Paradise and went to my car.
Rex opened the door for me, “I’ll follow you back to your place and then we’ll leave from there.”
“I have to work in the morning,” I told him.
Rex smiled, “Okay, so my car will stay here. Would you like me to drive?”
“Yes, please,” I went around to the passenger side.
Rex laughed, “I wanted to open your door, but you moved so fast in those sexy heels.”
“You can be a gentleman later, come on, let’s go.”
Rex eased behind the wheel, “You can keep bossing me around. It really turns me on.”
I tried hushing him but laughed because he started listing all the things I could do to him.
My boyfriend was truly insane, and I loved it.
We relaxed in a comfortable silence on the drive to my house. Rex parked the car near the courtyard. “Please wait until I get the door.”
I decided not to be defiant for once. Rex thanked me with a kiss. Our walk through the courtyard was romantic.
Rex glanced around the second we were in my condo, “The place looks exactly the same.”
I smiled, “You were gone a year. It wasn’t that long.”
“We shouldn’t have been apart to begin with, but it won’t happen again,” his sexy promise was needed, but I still wanted to show him I wasn’t messing around.
“Rex, I’m trusting you not to break my heart.”
He responded with an emotional kiss. I didn’t want to walk away, not for a second, but we wouldn’t leave my house if he kept kissing me like that.
I ditched my bag and went into the bedroom to freshen up and change into comfy clothing. It didn’t take long to pack. Rex was standing on the balcony when I came back. He seemed deep in thought, so I took the time to admire his midnight-black hair and inked skin.
The sun was setting, so the balcony turned beautiful shades of gold around Rex. “I know you’re there, you always smell sweet,” he said without looking in my direction.
I wrapped my arms around him. “Thanks for saying that. I had to freshen up.”
Rex glanced over his shoulder, and his eyes sparked with mischief, “I’ll get you dirty again.”
“That’s the whole point,” I sighed. “We had some good times out here.”
Rex pulled me into his arms, and I received a heart-stopping kiss. I was breathless when he ended it.
“We should make new memories,” his deep timbre caused a naughty twinge.
I sighed, “I would love too, but I’m so excited to see your place. We can start making new memories there.”
We shared a passionate kiss as sunrays scattered across the sky. Rex was still holding me. I felt safe in his arms and was content being on the balcony with him. His mouth brushed my forehead. “I miss this too. I missed us,” his confession meant so much to me.
I spent the past year upset, worried, and disappointed. Rex and I had time to make up for. We couldn’t let it happen again. I tried holding in everything I was feeling. Rex didn’t want that. Our next kiss was so emotional. I was lost in it until Rex backed off.
“You’re trying to trust me,” his voice was laced with desire. “I’ll earn it. I can’t have your heart aching.”
I cuddled with him because I couldn’t find the words. Rex understood, but my heart was already his. He didn’t have to question that. It didn’t take Rex long. He calmed me, but I was still reeling from everything and wanted him close.
I took a shaky breath, “I’ll be ready in a minute.”
“Take your time,” Rex kissed my forehead.
We went into the living room.
“Where are you keeping your Dad’s cash?” he asked.
“In my safe,” I replied. “And it’s not his anymore.”
Rex smiled, “I was worried about you having so much cash on hand. I asked Theo to look after you that night.”
“Thanks. I wasn’t sure I would’ve carried it home had I known, but it’s safe and secure. I’m thinking about depositing it.”
“Sounds good. Theo or I will go to the bank with you.”
I smiled, “You’re being overprotective.”
“I never stopped worrying about you. I was counting on your Dad to keep you out of harm’s way. Do you have all your pretty things?” Rex motioned to my bag.
“Yes. I have something special for you too,” I laughed at the look on his face. “You’ll like what I have in mind.”
It was the time after twilight when we left my condo. Rex didn’t mind public displays of affection. He’d touch my lower back or hold my hand. It was the little things that made me feel my best. I couldn’t wait to spend the night with him, and I wanted to make the most of it.57Please respect copyright.PENANA0qrCvWGD9E
