They returned from their ‘jump’ through space and time and landed in the fields west of Central Haswhald. The air was fresh and clean, and the breeze was cool and comforting as it waved through the long grass. Looking east, the tower of Silver’s Academy remained a grey emblem of a time when monsters roamed the earth. To the people of Sudostris the monsters disappeared as unexpectedly as they came. But the years ticked on for Victor and the last of the Slayers, and they stood idly as the shadow left by the monsters of the world was lifted. The years ticked on.
Hansel never returned home. He was presumed dead by his family, and many years later, after the death of his father, he travelled far into the west in the company of Caesar; an insurgency had arisen in Farwest and it was believed their skills would be needed there.
Astrid disappeared soon after returning to Sudostris. She had explained it all to Sam and Victor, saying that she was grateful for their friendship, but she could not bear to be with them until the guilt that ravaged her mind had faded. She promised that if she ever forgave herself she would return to them in friendship.
Gretel and Ling travelled south. Ling agreed to assist Rodrick in a ‘special project’ that required all the secret texts that Mr. Silver had sent away, and so she ventured first to the ancient library in Olvaile to visit her old friend, The Keeper. Gretel on the other hand had a mind for a new kind of adventure. She gathered a caravan of travellers and set out to explore the unchartered lands deep in the most southern reaches of Olvaile. She would one day become the first woman to map all the hidden places of the unknown world.
Even though they had been successful in their task of helping Mr. Silver find The Truth, the pursuit of knowledge continued to be the driving factor of Victor’s life, and with Rodrick and Samantha by his side, he was eventually selected to step into the mighty shoes of Mr. Silver. A new academy was founded far in the north-western reaches of Sudostris, near the mountains surrounding Draco’s Peak. It was indeed true that no more monsters existed, however alchemy proved to be a much sought after skill, and Victor wanted to teach its secrets to those who were worthy, and protect it from those who were not.
Legends were told of the pilgrimage made by those who were keen of mind, and those who yearned or knowledge, a journey into the hidden places of the mountains to The Victor von Mylne Academy for Gifted Alchemists. At first things started out slow, but the school grew as the years went on. Rodrick completed the task of gathering the last of Mr. Silver’s hidden knowledge, and with Sam’s help he contributed to the writing of new documents and the new teachings they uncovered. Their society expanded. They pushed the world into a new era of scientific innovation. Under Victor’s watchful eyes the academy lived on.
