"Kay~!"
"You stay away from me!" said person snapped as they entered through the door.
The brunette had returned on early release, after a few day stay at the hospital, and he was not as ecstatic to see his bumbling partner waiting for him.
"You've missed so much!" Jay shouted, arms flailing about as he spun in his swivel chair. A large grin was plastered to his face as he watched a scowl appear on his violet-eyed coworker. "You won't believe who's been working with me!"
"A woman with red hair and hazel eyes going by the name of Dr. Harukana."
"El-wait, how did you know that?"
Kay pinched the bridge of his nose as he ventured into the lab, keeping as much distance as he could between him and the curious man he called his partner. As he took a seat, he began typing at a keyboard before looking up at the large screen at the center of the room.
"Kay-"
"I know because she told me as I was coming in," the brunette said, looking over his shoulder to see the greenette coming. "And don't you come near me!"
"Aww, but I missed you so much!" the ditzy one exclaimed as he hurried his pace. He only slowed down as he saw a metal sphere in his other's hand. "What's that, Kay?"
"If you come near me, you'll find out," said person said as he went back to focusing on the screen. "Now, as for Dr. Harukana, I'm surprised you didn't kill the poor woman."
"Speaking of Dr. Harukana, where'd she go?" Jay asked, tiptoeing over.
"She said she went to go see her son off," Kay replied nonchalant as he tapped at the keys, pulling up maps and blueprints of such.
"Her son… her son!" the greenette shouted, arms flailing once again. "He has the PDA!"
"Excuse me?" the brunette asked, looking over his shoulder. "Her son h- why are you close to me?" he hissed, throwing the metal ball at the greenette.
Jay caught the object quickly, eyeing it before staring at the one who had the nerve to throw such a thing. "Ha!"
Movement had blue eyes dropping down to see the ball shaking in the palm of his hands. A small panel opened to expose a bud. As it moved forward, a long, thin coil began to worm its way from its container before turning on the one holding it.
Before he got the chance to drop it, the metal rope wrapped along his wrist, winding its way down his arm then across his chest and to his other arm, bringing it to his side. The coil then traveled down to his feet, wrapping around them effectively until Jay fell to the floor. Once he was down, his attacker halted all movements and came to rest as he grunted his displeasure.
"Ha, indeed," Kay said, looking down at the one on the floor, "but you say Dr. Harukana's kid has it?" The brunette tapped his chin thoughtfully before returning his attention to the screen as he pulled up a map. "Well, I suppose he's just as good of a candidate as any."
"Kay~!" the downed man whined, wiggling about as the other stood. "Where. Are. You. Going."
"Out," came the reply.
"You can't just leave me like this!"
Purple eyes stared down at the man squirming in the binds. The look he gave him could probably rival that of the devil himself and manage to have Jay wiggle more.
"Kaylen!"
The brunette arched a brow. He had not heard his first name pass from the green-haired man's mouth in almost three years. Despite the fact, he gave a small smile and wave as he headed out the door.
"Don't go anywhere now," he said as he walked out, the door sliding shut behind him.
Jay merely scowled as he tried to sit up. "Kaylen~!"
"Are you seriously going to walk like that the entire way?" the purplette asked, walking slowly behind the pinkette.
"Well, he won't let go," Robbie said, as the PDA's hold on his waist tightened. "Ace…"
"It's odd," Kai stated, earning him a glare from the raven-haired project.
"You're just jealous," Ace said matter-of-factly.
"Excuse me?" the grey-eyed teen hissed.
"You heard me," the PDA said, nuzzling the one he was holding. "You're jealous because you're not the one holding him."
"Behave," Robert murmured.
"But-"
Sighing quietly, the pink-haired teen raised a hand and ran it through the PDA's black tresses slowly before pulling his hand away. When he looked up at the raven, hazel eyes took note of the growing smile on Ace's face before being hugged into said person. His eyes then drifted over to the purplette staring incredulously, speechless for the time, as he walked. Seeing that, the one in glasses averted his gaze to the sidewalk ahead.
"Behave." he repeated, the project nodding as its reply.
'What was that?' The purplette felt his eye twitch slightly as they walked up the driveway of a rather large and loud house. "Har-"
A knock on the door cut him off. The music blasting out into the yard as it opened, halted any remaining words as the trio stared at the smiling redhead. She waved at the quiet, purple-haired athlete before blushing up at the school's new raven. When she turned her attention to the pinkette he was holding, she averted her eyes, her smile faltering before strengthening anew.
"Glad you all made it!" she cheered, pulling on the PDA's sleeve to usher them in.
Once the door closed, Kaito made his way to the front, squeezing between the pinkette and other to have a look around. At least thirty or so schoolmates had come and that was just in the house. Some, he guessed to be at least fifteen, were out in the back, the faint sound of water splashing being heard above the beat of the music.
A tug on his sleeve had Ace looking over towards the smiling girl known as Rebecca. He raised an eyebrow as he unwrapped the arm still holding onto the pinkette before forcing a smile himself.
"Yes?" he asked, pulling his arm from the girl. "What is it?"
"I want to give you a tour!" she said, her voice just loud enough to be heard.
"A tour?" the raven asked, eyebrow going a bit higher. "Whatever for?"
"So you don't get lost."
"I won't get lost," Ace said with a smile. "I'll stay close to my friend here."
He wrapped his arms around the smaller of the trio to add emphasis to his claim; the action earning him a squirm from the one he was holding.
"Go on, Ace," Rob said, prying the raven's arms off. "Have fun."
"But, Robert, I-"
"C'mon," the redhead squealed as she pulled him away and through the crowd.
Kaito watched the pair disappear into the throngs of classmates before turning his attention to the pinkette walking towards the door leading out to the pool.
"Hey, wait," Kaito called, hurrying after the departing hazel-eyed teen. "What was all that outside?"
'Why is it always about Ace?' Robbie thought bitterly as he looked back at the one following him. "What of it?" he asked, sliding his hands in his pockets.
"What was that even for?" Kaito asked angrily.
"Are you mad now?"
"Y-no!" A pink eyebrow arched itself. "What was that outside?" Robert looked away. "Haru-"
"Don't start that!" the pinkette snapped. "My first name is Robert. Say that but not my last name."
The purplette looked around, seeing how no one else seemed to be listening to them before pulling the angrier of the pair over to the kitchen. He stopped short as Robert pulled his arm away, glaring.
"I want to talk to you," Kaito said as calmly as possible.
"It's just going to be about Ace, right?" Grey eyes averted themselves. "Right?" Robbie pressed.
"I don't like you hanging around him."
"Why?" Robert asked, looking back to see the raven-haired project being pulled around by one crush. He then focused on the purplette. "He's harmless. He hasn't done anything and if memory serves me correctly, you haven't wanted anything to do with me after I kissed y-"
A hand clasped over his mouth while Kai placed one finger to his lips.
"Shhh…" he whispered though he was sure no one else could have heard the two of them over the blaring sound of beats.
Rob narrowed his eyes, throwing a heated glare at the other before pulling away. "It happened and you know it!"
"Harukana…"
"It's Robert!" said person shouted, hands in fists as he looked away. "If you can't say that simple name then just don't talk to me!"
"But-"
"No!"
"H-"
"Are you alright?"
Kaito looked over his shoulder while Robert looked ahead to see the red-streaked raven standing by, Rebecca on his heels.
"We're fine," Kai replied.
"I wasn't talking to you," Ace chided, walking towards Robert. He leaned down, placing his hands on the smaller teen's shoulder and rested his forehead against his. "Are you alright?" Speechless, Rob nodded once before dropping his gaze to the floor. "Are you sure?"
"Y-yes."
"See?" Kaito asked, causing the PDA to stand straight and look at him. "You can go away now."
"Again, I wasn't talking to you," Ace said.
"C'mon, Ace," Rebecca said giddily, "I still have to finish showing you around."
"Would you go away?" the PDA asked coolly. He glanced at the girl, seeing perplexity flashing in her blue, almond-shaped eyes. "For some one smart, you really are clueless. You do know that, right?"
"Ace," the pinkette warned.
"No, let me continue," the raven said, turning to face her. "You have one of the highest grades in our math class yet you ask me to help you with everything. It's annoying. The way you hang around the hall outside my class to walk with me, I don't like it."
"Ace!" Rob shouted, reaching up to cover the project's mouth.
The red-streaked teen swatted his hand away. "I'm. Not. Done." He glanced at the pink-haired one, seeing him recoil quickly before looking back at the redhead girl. "I haven't been at Vetay for nearly a week and you're already falling for me. I don't get that. Robert likes you."
"Ace!" the pinkette shouted, dropping his gaze as the redhead looked over at him.
"I can't understand how you missed such a nice person," the raven spat. "I saw the way you looked at him at the door and I must say, I find you shallow."
"M-me?" Rebecca stammered, finally finding her voice. "You're calling me shallow?" She actually sounded mad now. "How dare you call me shallow!"
Several others looked over at the group in the corner, hearing some of the things being said. As others gathered, the music began to die down until it was forgotten by most.
"I call it as I see it," Ace replied, smiling at how the girl's face was rivaling that of her hair. "I don't like you and honestly, you'd be lucky to have someone as nice as Robbie to like you. Unfortunately, your chances of finding someone like him are very slim."
The girl gritted her teeth as she took note of the crowd of onlookers. Not being the one to be the butt of a insult, Rebecca placed one hand on her hip and tossed her hair over her shoulder, sizing both teens up.
"You speak so highly of him," she scoffed, glancing at the hazel-eyed teen. "Why is that? Like you said, you haven't been going to our school for more than a week yet you always want to be with him. He really isn't anything special."
The pinkette took a step back, his eyes never leaving the floor.
"Watch it…" Kaito warned, narrowing his eyes at the girl, taking her by surprise.
Even Ace regarded the purplette for a second prior to pulling the departing teen over by the waist. He nuzzled the pink-haired teen, noticing how he didn't bother to squirm away.
"Despite what you say," Ace said, making sure he had the girl's attention, "I like him. I like him more than you and with that being said, I like him a lot."
Whispers began as the PDA held the smaller teen closer, not allowing him to get away though Rob had stopped long ago as he hung his head. A small frown flitted across the project's face before he pulled away to tilt the pink-haired teen's head up. He gave a warm smile before leaning down, giving the pinkette a kiss.
He heard the gasps and several squeals though Ace's attention remained on the still person he was sharing the moment with. Pulling away slowly, he watched as hazel eyes lidded themselves as their owner' face became dusted with a faint pink.
"Shall we go home?" the PDA asked quietly, lightly nudging Robert towards the door leading to the pool. "You don't look like you're having fun and I'm not having fun."
Robbie merely nodded, looking down at the ground as his face became darker. Smiling, Ace led the way, keeping his arm around the smaller one's waist as they walked the length of the lit pool.
Not the one to take rejection well, Rebecca folded her arms as she looked towards some of the jocks playing football in the yard. When they took note of her, she shifted her gaze towards the departing pair. Looking between each other, they all smiled.
"Yo', Ace!" one called as he threw the ball at him.
From reflex, and the smaller built-in sensors, the PDA caught the object though his attention never quite left Robert. When he finally did divert his gaze to the other side, he was taken by surprise as he and the pinkette were suddenly tackled into the pool.
Hearing such a loud splash, anyone that had not been outside came running into the backyard to see what had caused the commotion. The first thing to catch their attention was the ball bobbing about on the rippling water surface. Then came the brown-haired football player that tackled the other pair. He swam to the edge of the pool, giving high fives to some of his own friends as they laughed. Next came the pinkette, sputtering water as he wiped his face. Relief rushed over him as he felt that his glasses were still on his face.
"Are you alright?" Hazel eyes drifted to the edge of the pool to see the purplette knelt down, worry evident as well as relief. "Haru-Robbie, you're alright, right?"
"Y-yes," he stammered, swimming over as Kaito stood. He then watched as the purplette walked over to the still laughing jocks. 'What's he doing?'
"Hey." The laughing came to a halt as the players stared at the fuming grey-eyed teen. "He could've gotten hurt."
"He's fine."
Raising an eyebrow, Kaito grabbed the other by the arm and flipped him back into the water. When the player popped back to the surface sputtering, an annoyed look in his eyes, Kai stared down at him mockingly.
"You're fine," he said, walking back over to see that Robert was pulling himself out.
Hurrying over, the purple-haired one took the other by the hand and helped him out. "You sure you're ok?"
Robert merely nodded. "I'm fine." His eyes then scanned the yard, not seeing any trace of the PDA. "W-where's Ace?"
Grey eyes scanned the area before dropping down to the water's surface. As Rob went to stand, Kaito pushed him back into a seated position before he jumped into the water. Everyone else hurried toward the edges to see what happened before gasps ensued.
Getting on his knees, Robert craned his neck to see his friend trying to raise the other from the pool's floor. Squeezing his way past some of the people, he jumped in as well, not minding that his glasses slipped off his face the second time around. The rule about not having the PDA submerged in water flitted across his thoughts as he reached the bottom alongside the struggling purplette.
Signaling him to pull on three, Rob took hold of the raven's arm as Kaito grabbed the other. At the given number, both pulled taken by surprise at how heavy the downed project weighed. And with air in short supply, each teen stared at each other, worry clearly seen as their lungs started to scream at them.
A splash from above had them looking up to see several others coming down to help. When they arrived, the other two swam up to the surface quickly, breathing quickly and deeply as they wiped the water from their faces. They then turned their attention to the resurfacing group struggling to pull the PDA to the side.
Spotting the pinkette's glasses, Kai dived down to retrieve them before sliding them back on the owner's face after coming back up. "Are y-"
"Ace!" Robert shouted once he could see clearly.
He climbed out of the pool and hurried over once the raven was placed in the grass, leaving Kaito to get out by himself. He would've said something if the scene wasn't so disturbing.
The PDA's head lolled to the side, his black hair clinging to face though one burgundy eye remained slit open though a dull, lifeless red. His skin appeared to pale while his dark clothing clung to his body, furthering the notion of one being drowned. His mouth was opened somewhat though it was a given that he was not actually breathing.
The other students nearby looked amongst themselves as the pinkette shook the raven by the shoulder. When no reaction came, he hung his head.
'He's broken.' Rob looked up a bit, taking note of the PDA's slightly parted lips before biting his own. 'Can he breathe?'
It was a good question. 290Please respect copyright.PENANAClM9aR7Lpz
He wondered many things about the alleged PDA.290Please respect copyright.PENANANIZapRPYLb
He wasn't exactly human. The teen learned that from finding him up at odd hours, preparing for the day ahead or simply not doing humanly things. Eating being one of them but, through it all, he took notice of the things that made the raven human-like as well.
When the PDA would hug him, Rob was sure that he could hear, if not feel, something beating in the taller teen's chest. He would fidget when being scolded and would even blush at times. 290Please respect copyright.PENANAwSuxJIe5Db
All being natural human emotions and functions.
'He should be able to breathe,' the pinkette concluded as he position Ace's head. 'I hope this works…'
He leaned down, sealing his lips carefully over the colder pair, shivering a bit as he began CPR. Placing his hands along the PDA's chest, he pushed down, trying to pump out any water that may have been trapped in the other's lungs once he pulled his mouth away.
A tiny stream ran down the side of the project's mouth as his head lolled to the side again. Not willing to give up yet, Robert tried once more, unfortunately, earning the same results. Pulling away, he hung his head as others looked around, hoping someone would suggest something.
Anything.
Nothing.
It remained silent.
'I'm sorry.' Those words raced along the pinkette's mind though he didn't know why he felt so apologetic. 'Ace…' Water pricked at the corners of his eyes. A drop soon fell upon the project's face as Rob uttered, "Ace, wake up…"
"Robert…" came the weak reply.
Said person blinked away other tears he had almost allowed to surface as he focused on the raven before him. The single, visible eye that had seemed so lifeless, blinked once slowly. It then blinked again before its owner rolled over, clutching his side as he coughed up the rest of the water that had flooded his systems. He twitched every now and then before he tilted his head to have a look over at Robert.
Pushing himself up onto his knees, Ace hung his head to catch his remaining breath before giving a weak smile.
"You ok?" he asked, flashing the smile at the grieving pinkette.
"Y-yes, but are-"
"Good," Ace said as his eye twitched slightly, smile still in place.
"How can you smile like that?" Robbie asked hardly over a whisper.
"Because you're ok," the PDA replied, getting to his feet. His body jerked as if struggling with something though he held a hand out to help him up. "Thank you as well."
"I…Kaito helped too." Dull red eyes slid over to acknowledge the other standing quietly a little ways off before focusing on the pinkette. "Um, some other people did too."
"L…lovely." A twitch pulled at the corner of Ace's mouth before he snaked his arms around the smaller teen's wed clad waist. "Shall we get going? You'd catch a cold if you stay in such… wet clothing."
"O… ok," the one with glasses said, allowing the other to lead him through the parting crowd.
"You'd catch a cold if you stay in such… wet clothing," Ace said as he twitched again.
"Yeah, you said that already," Robert replied as he looked back up to see the raven smiling down at him.
"I did?" He furrowed his brow before giving a smile again. "Well, it's true," the PDA stated as the pair past by the worry-stricken redhead. Seeing her anxiety, Ace narrowed his red eyes at her and gave a cruel smile. "Hey, Rob?"
"Y-yes?" said person stammered as he felt the twitchy arms wrap tighter around him.
"Murder is illegal, isn't it?" the raven asked quiet enough for the pinkette, and even the blue-eyed girl to hear.
"Yes…" Robert replied, a bit anxious to where the conversation was going.
"I see…" The red-streaked project nuzzled the other to signal him to move again. "If only looks could kill then," he sighed, eyes never leaving the redhead until he lost sight of her as he and the pinkette walked around the corner.
Turning her attention to the people in her backyard, Rebecca cleared her throat.
"Well…shall we continue?" she asked gleefully.
Kaito slid one hand in his pocket as his other brushed away the long, violet strands that were in his line of vision.
"You're crazy," he said as he made his way around people. "I'm going home."
"Kai-"
He waved the girl off as he exited through the gate entrance. Blue eyes then focused on the classmates whispering amongst themselves.
"Yeah, I think Imma' get going too," one said.
"It's kinda' late," another added. "Imma go too."
Similar things were tossed into the air as everyone else began to leave. Looking to the ones she called friends, Rebecca saw that they too were departing.
"See you Monday, Becca," one said.
"See ya' History, Bec," another called before they hurried off to catch a ride.
Staring at the empty yard, the blue-eyed teen kicked a can before storming back into her home to clean up. Picking up cups and turning off the radio, she reflected on the raven's menacing words before shuddering. Despite what could be viewed as threatening, the girl's face flushed after remembering the intensity the red eyes held.
'He's scary but he's still hot,' she mused as she threw an empty chip bag away.
"You're not cold are you?"
Robert shook his head though he couldn't hide the shiver that ran down his spine as the cool air blew against his wet skin.
"You're not cold are you?" Ace asked as he held the other closer.
"I'm ok," Rob replied.
Both walked in silence for a time, watching as some of the students from the party drove by, shouting "are you ok?" from the open windows. The PDA regarded them briefly before turning his attention to the pinkette.
"You're not cold are-"
"Are you ok?" Rob asked, pulling away from the project stuck on repeat. "You keep saying the same thing over and over again."
Ace merely smiled as he played with the wet, pink strands that clung to the smaller of the pair's face. "I'm good if you are," he replied, placing a quick kiss to the still damp brow.
A faint blush crept onto the hazel-eyed teen's face as he turned around to face forward again. Content with the reaction, Ace continued behind; his arms held at a secure yet comforting way as the two walked in silence, listening to the sound of night until a sneeze interrupted it all.
"You're not cold are you?" Ace asked, coming to a stop. He felt a tremor and sucked his teeth. "You are."
"Am not," Robbie said as he pulled away to continue walking.
"Hmm, when we get back, you should take a hot shower," the PDA thought aloud. "You'd catch a cold in such… wet clothing."
Hazel eyes glanced back to see a growing smile along the raven's face as dark red eyes met the gaze.
'Creepy.' It was the only thing the pink-haired teen could think of as he stared at the other. 'Nice…but creepy.'
With no words being exchanged, the raven eyed the other, cocking his head to the side as he watched water drip from the edges of soft, pink hair. With a slight twitch of his eye, he stepped closer as the other began to retreat hesitantly.
"You're going to catch a cold in such… wet clothing," Ace said slowly as he grabbed the pinkette's wrist. "We're moving too slow."
"And what would you suggest," Robert asked nervously after trying to pull away. "Ace, you're st-put me down!"
The PDA merely shook his head as he watched the smaller of the pair wiggle about in his arms. "You're so cute," he said, smile curling his lips as he leaned down to give the other a kiss.
"Ace."
"Ah, right," the raven said as he began to walk down the street. "You're still in wet clothes." He picked up his pace until it was a jog. "Can't have that now, can we?" Red eyes dropped down to see Robert scowling. His pout only had the project grin as he quickened his jog to a run. "Out of those clothes and into the shower before bed."
Those words with that smile had the teen avert his eyes as he tried to force his cheeks to their original color. A quick kiss had him look back up to see the PDA focused on what was ahead as he carried him along the sidewalk.
Taking a step aside, purple eyes viewed the pair, one being carried while the carrier smiled the entire time. Tilting his head at a slight angle, the observer rubbed at the back of his neck as the duo disappeared around a corner.
"Oh dear," Kaylen murmured to himself as he hurried to the corner, spotting the trail of water against the pavement. He stopped at the corner to see that the other two were already turning a corner at the end of the street. "It appears that he has gotten wet."
