After the nosebleed fiasco, Robert flopped onto his twin size bed to look up at the vaulted ceiling. He took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes before sitting up as he heard his bedroom door open up. Sliding the frames back onto his face, he watched as Kai came in with his black uniform top slung over his shoulder. One hand was brushing the violet strands from out of his face while his free hand held onto the new gaming console that had been released at the beginning of the month.
"Why do you keep staring at me like that?"
Rob just looked towards the window, running his fingers through his short, pink hair. His pale cheeks begun to flush more until he heard the purplette tell the television to come on. Not only was he taller but Kai's voice had even become a bit deeper. His words seemed to come out as smooth as silk and Robbie figured, even if the purplette was to insult someone, it may as well be considered a praise.
By the time his friend had taken a seat at the foot of the bed, the pinkette's entire face was red. He fidgeted in his spot and closed his eyes as he took a deep breath, hoping that they could just play the game in silence.
"Robbie." He turned to see a pair of dark grey eyes merely inches away from his reddening face. "Hey, you ok?" Kai asked, pressing the back of his hand onto his friend's cheek. "You're all red. Not sick are you?"
Robert bit his bottom lip but couldn't help but lean into the soft hand that was pressed against his blushing cheek. He closed his eyes and let out a quiet sigh, cursing himself for not having the mentality to pull away. The contact was just too nice. Lost in his own thoughts, his eyes slowly drifted open as he heard his name being called. Kai had pressed his forehead to his friend's, his brow furrowed from worry as he tried to determine what ailed his companion. How could Kaito be so clueless?
"I'm fine," the pinkette murmured, pulling away. "Let's just play the game before Sky comes flying in."
And as if on cue, the front door from downstairs slammed shut before the sound of footsteps running up the stairs made both teens turn towards the bedroom entrance. A small redhead stood in the doorway, his navy blue gakuran top left open while his book bag rested by his feet. A big smile was plastered on his small, round face as he took notice of the purplette sitting on the bed.
"Kaito!"
"Hiya', Sky," Kai said, turning around to face the small child. "How are you today? Did you have a good day in school?"
"Yeah, but then Yuko said that he couldn't come over to play today," Skylar whined as he crossed the room, taking a seat on the purplette's knee. "So, now I have nothing to do."
"Well, it is a Friday so I see your problem," Kaito said, patting the young redhead on the shoulder.
"Can I play with you guys?" the small child asked, picking up a game controller.
"No," the pinkette said, picking up the other controller. "There are only two controllers and Kai and I were going to play first."
"But I wanna' play too, Robbie."
"I don't care," Robert said, folding his arms. "Now, get out of my room and go watch television!"
"Aw, c'mon, Rob," Kaito said, ruffling the redhead's hair. "He can play with you first then I'll play with you, 'kay?"
"No way!" the one with pink hair hissed. "Sky, get out of my room!"
Skylar stood up, shoving his hands into his pockets as he eyed his brother in contempt. "Hey, Kai."
"Sup, Sky?"
"Has Robbie ever told you that he has a crush on-"
The pinkette stood up, grabbing his younger brother by the back of the shirt and dragged him out, kicking the door shut. The hazel eyes of the smaller child stared up, amusement shining clearly in them as he viewed his flustered older brother.
"What's wrong, Robbie?"
"You little brat," Robert hissed, letting go of the top. "Wait 'til mom gets home."
"Yeah, I could tell mom you got a crush on Kai too," Skylar giggled as his brother grew red in the face. "So…about that videogame…"
"Fine, whatever," the pinkette said jadedly as he opened the door.
"Hurray!"
Kaito turned his attention over to the redhead that came bounding in, his pink-haired brother plodding in behind him. He was about to ask Rob what happened until the seven year old picked up the free controller, a sweet smile on his face as he turned on the console.
"Sky's gonna' play with you first."
"Oh, ok," the purplette said, scooting over so that the redhead had a place to sit. "You wanna' play next round?"
"Um, I'll just watch for a bit," Robert replied taking a seat at his desk. "Computer, sign me into my email and pull up any new messages."
The purple-haired teen stared at the disgruntled teen sitting on the other side of the room, his back to them both as the sounds of the videogame filled the room. He was about to ask Rob if he wanted to go outside to talk but the small whine from the redhead beside him pulled his attention back to his current activity.
You got mail.
'Lovely' the pinkette thought.
You have one new message in your inbox.
Sitting idly by, Robert clicked on the message.
Message received February 15, 2112 at 2:36 PM.
Subject: PDA experiment No. 2
"Oh, yeah…"
"What is it, Rob?" Kaito asked, looking over his shoulder
"Oh, nothing, just checking my email is all."
"Oh…ok," the purplette said before returning his focus to the task at hand.
Este manual te ayudará a conocer mejor tu PDA.
"What the?"
"What's up?" Kaito asked, looking over his shoulder again.
"Robbie's just talking to himself again," Skylar said, pressing the A button much too quickly.
"Am not!" the pinkette snapped. "This email is just written in some other language! I think it's Spanish."
"Did you try having it translated?" the purplette suggested as he scooted on the bed to get a better look at the computer. "It might help."
Rob looked back at his friend to see a small smile work its way on his handsome face. "Computer, have this message translated please," he said, looking back at the screen. "Thanks, Kaito."
This manual should help you get to know your PDA better.
The cursor scrolled down.
Upon arrival, the experiment will be set to off. To activate your PDA, all you need to do is say the name written somewhere along the surface area.
After activation, we ask that you do the following:
1. State your full name, first and last.
2. Please give a password
3. Please give a safe word.
"A safe word?" The pinkette rubbed the back of his head before turning to see Kai staring at him, eyebrow arched. "What?"
"What is right." the purplette said. "What the heck are ya' doing over there?"
"Just checking an email is all…"
"Ok…?" Kaito said, dragging out his obvious question.
"Focus!" the little redhead practically screeched as he began mashing buttons.
The tallest of the trio smiled, mashing the smallest one's head prior to resuming his game play. Content, the seven year old went back making noises ranging from cheers to grunts. With the question dismissed, the pink-haired teen adjusted his glasses as he went back to reading his mail.
To ensure your PDA can function properly, we ask that you do the following:
1. Please allow the PDA to have access to sunlight.
2. Do not allow PDA to become completely submerged in water.
3. Allow the PDA to interact with others in order to learn its surroundings.
4. Do not allow the PDA to interact with any plugged-in technology during lightening storms or power outages.
5. Be sure to maintain upkeep.
"Sounds simple."
"Robbie, you sound silly talking to yourself," the redhead laughed, looking over his shoulder.
"Don't make me kick you out of here, Sky-"
"Come on, you two," the purple-haired teen said, intervening before a yelling contest ensued. "Get along. You live together after all."
Each sibling rolled their hazel eyes before resuming their previous activities. Happy with how the small squabble was easily quelled, the purplette lolled against the wall, smiling to himself as he listened to the small cheers coming from the redhead as well as the sound of a mouse clicking coming from his best friend.
"Jay!"
"I swear, whatever it was, I didn't do it!" Jay said defensively as he sat at a desk, finger tapping slowly along the wood top.
"Remember how you forgot to send out the manual?" Kay asked, walking up to the main computer in the vast lab.
"Well, yes, but I did send it via email."
"You mean this manual here?" Kay asked, crooking his finger to summon his partner over.
The other stood hesitantly, hands in his pockets as he made his way over. Leaning forward he took a look at the before, scratching the back of his head, ruffling his medium green hair in the process. Blue eyes averted themselves as soon as the sound of a foot tapping began.
"Whoops…"
"Whoops indeed," Kay said, pulling the current webpage onto the larger monitor in the room. "How'd you manage to send the manual in Spanish?"
"Sorry, was just trying to hurry and get the manual to the volunteer before the prototype actually got there," Jay explained, looking over at an aggravated brunette staring him down. "A plus, is that the PDA will know how to translate!" Violet eyes narrowed. "Yeah, yeah, I'm taking responsibility."
"You got that right," Kay said, tapping a finger against his chin. "Anyway, when did you send out the experiment?"
"About three days ago, why?"
"I'm just surprised it hasn't reached its destination yet," the brunette said, looking up at the screen.
"Maybe it arrived and the volunteer has yet to activate it," Jay suggested.
"I suppose you may be right," Kay said, pulling up a map of Zen Tech City. "You did send the instructions in Spanish after all…"
"I'm sorry, ok?" the green-haired one shouted, hands up in the air.
"Hey, Jay?"
"What now, Kay?"
"¿Puedes decir lo siento en ingles?" the brunette asked now amused by the disdainful look in his blue-eyed partner's gaze.
