Name: Florence Carter
Nationality: English
Class: REDACTED
I think it’s a requirement that every story has that character with big mom energy. Florence easily fills that role, and then some. The irony is that I originally tried to create Florence as an unlikable character, but somehow the more I wrote her, the more I liked her myself. Even now, she’s probably 2nd-best girl in my mind. I’ve always said though, that whether you’re writing a character people will love or a character people will love to hate, they should be attached to them regardless, so I guess it’s fine how she turned out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Her class is a bit of a secret, but as you can easily tell, she fights with a shotgun and powerfist, and carries a small car engine on her back to power the latter. Something of a mid-to-close range fighter, she has a tendency to fight with complete disregard for her own safety. Her ability is a favourite of mine, and is called KANGAROO POUCH, creating a pocket of flesh on her belly which contains an extra-dimensional storage room inside. This means she can actively hide weapons, equipment, and even other people on her person, without carrying any of the weight. This makes it easy for her and her party to travel quickly and incognito, as everyone just hitches a ride in Florence’s pouch.
It won’t be until Book 5 that she really shines as a character so I can’t say too much more, but I will say that Nor did an exception job on her art, especially as these were older drawings. The perspective of the shotgun especially is well done, I know how hard it is to make things correctly proportionate when they’re pointed towards the viewer. I also think having her wear jeans and a sweater just brings the mommy energy out of her. Something tells me Florence is gonna be one of those characters people are gonna simp for.
*edit*
Forgot about this until I reread it, but the reason Florence has the ability KANGAROO POUCH is because when I was a teeny tiny kid, my mom used to tuck me behind her legs while lying on the couch and reading, and called it her "kangaroo pouch". It was really comforting as a kid to be swaddled against her like that as we both read. I kinda wanted Florence to have that same "warm mom hugs" energy.
