Name: Sylph
Nationality: REDACTED
Class: Lurker
The last of the Eventyr I have art for, Sylph the Unseen Apathy is based on The Nightingale. An emotionless killer who can make herself, as well as anything around her invisible, she'll be the first of the Eventyr we meet. As such, I wanted to make her memorable. One other thing about the Eventyr I never mentioned is that, due to their Gunvolt inspiration, they all recite a haiku when unleashing their final attack. Hers is;
/Munch munch, gobble, gulp,
/The darkness ate up the world.
/Do not trust thine eyes
BLIND MAN'S BUFF
Before you wonder just what in tarnation "blind man's buff" means, look it up. It's an old English variation on tag. Either way, this turns every object or entity anywhere close to Sylph invisible, meaning players have to try to fight an invisible enemy while all landscape, other players, and even themselves are invisible too. Beyond just being disorienting, they risk attacking each other, and if they make any noises to alert their allies, they just make it easier for Sylph to target them. All she has to do is kill anything that makes a sound.
Class-wise, Sylph is a Lurker, a psychic assassin that uses mental tricks to alter herself and her surroundings to sneak up on her foes. The gears on her heart are special, as she can insert a crank into them and wind them up, generating a little music-box melody of a slowed-down version of The Nightingale Song from The Tyrolean. This will give a really eerie effect, especially when she's invisible, but it has another purpose; this winds up two tension springs in the tubes on her calves (which are built into her boots). Then, she can release them to shoot her heels downwards with a huge amount of force, launching herself forward. This allows her to perform teleportation-like leaps and slashes, surprising her opponents and making it hard to determine her position while invisible.
Now I gotta be honest here; with most characters, I have a large degree of input into how they look. However for Sylph, I genuinely had no idea, and instead left it all up to Nor. And man, did she deliver! She's inspired by the clockwork, jeweled nightingale from the story, and as such Nor amped up her birdlyness, giving her a winged helmet, tail-feather sheathes, and of course covered her in bling to convey she's the jeweled nightingale, not the original. The ringlets are a nice touch too. For the record, her hair is a lavender-purple.
