Mason
"Daddy! Happy birthday" my eyes jerked open to see his adorable smile was woken up by my son bouncing on the bed yelling "Wake up!" I filled with joy. Then I saw Delilah walk in the room with a smile and her natural beauty that always seem to make me smile every time even after 10 years of seeing it. She crawled on the other side of the bed while max was on the right side of me. She then snuggled up on me and said "Morning birthday boy"
"Thank you baby girl and good morning to you too" she smiled then gave me a few sweet morning kisses and Max said "Ewe" We giggled and Delilah asked me "So what do you want to do today my love?"
"I don't want to worry about myself. I just want to do that trip you suggested a few days ago" I didn't want to tell her aloud because Max will know and it was one of his favorite places to go.
"What place-oh okay gotcha."
While Delilah got dressed, I got Max dressed. When I managed to get his hoodie on. I said "Go show Mommy your new birthday outfit" He ran to the room and said "Mami look" I was right behind him. Delilah was applying her dark red lipstick when she looked down at Max. She acted surprised and said "Oh my gosh is that my Maxi?"
"Yeah I'm right here" he said.
"I don't know you look too grown to be my little Max"
"No Mami I'm right here" She finished applying her lipstick and said "I know that baby. Give Mami a kiss." she squatted down in her red heels, black jeans puckering her lips. Max gave her a kiss and I said "Now go play in your room while Daddy get dressed"
"I will be done with the baby boy," I said to him.
"Okay Daddy" I bent down and kissed his head before he ran to his room. I closed the door and went behind her, placing my hands on her waist. Just when I was going to move her hair from the left side of her shoulder she moved away saying "What are you doing?"
"I want some kisses"
"Not now. Go get dressed you're still in your draws"
I huffed as I went into our big closet and grabbed a black white plaid dress shirt and some shreds with my Adidas high tops. When I got them all on I asked her "So what do you think?" she took her eyes off the screen of her phone to see my dress attire and said "Cute"
"Thank you. So, what about tonight's dinner and movies?"
"Sounds like a plan" I wrapped my arms around her hips and pulled her closer, giving her a kiss.
When we left the house around 12:30 and we went out for breakfast then Chuck E. Cheese's.
"Daddy where are we going?" Max asked.
"Yeah daddy where are we going?" Delilah mimicked. I stopped at the red stop sign and turned my head to her, blushing. I knew she was trying to tease me.
"Dadddyyyy" Max whined when I didn't answer right away because I was thinking of what I could do to shut her up until later on but of course I can do that right now.
"It's a surprise to you both," I winked at her.
"But it's your birthday," Max said.
"We never got to take you out for your birthday, that's why I wanted to take you out for our birthday," I said.
"Yay!" Max shouted as he clapped his hands.
We had a good time playing games with Max but while on the Stuart little ride he had kissed Stuart little's cheek and now he has a cough which means soon it will only get worse. On the way to Marissa's I called her to tell her that we were going to be on our way. When we pulled up to Marissa's house Max was already asleep so I was careful not to wake him while I carried him inside. She whispered to Marissa explaining that Max had a headache to give him cough syrup. Before he can wake up we roll out because we know how he gets when he sees us leave. When we managed to leave the house and to the car I said "Okay now we can go" In thirty minutes we arrived at the movie taverns to have dinner while we watched X-men Apocalypse which was an old 2016 movie that I loved. She had gotten us reserved seats on the top of the movie theater which was so sweet of her because each seat caused $11 plus $1 for reservations. We didn't get popcorn instead we got glasses of water and a combo dinner to share. When the movie was done we had just left when I had gotten a call from Marissa.
"Hello?" she answered.
"What up?"
"It's Max"
"What is going on?"
"He's throwing tantrums. I've been trying to stop him from tying but he's keep crying about a Lego car and y'all"
"Shit! We forgot to get his car alright. The movie just finished and we will be over."
"Alright bye"
"Bye" I put my phone in my pocket and said "So apparently, Max is throwing tantrums again and we forgot his car"
"Alright let's stop by the house for a second and get it. But I think we are going to have to cancel tonight. But I promise I got you tomorrow "
"That's fine our son is more important right now" so we went home real fast and got his toy and then raced back to Marissa's. When we came through the door Max got up and Delilah said "Mami and Daddy are right here baby" he ran straight to us and I said "Why you a cry baby, big boys don't cry?"
"I want y'all" Max whined in his cute little four-year-old voice.
"But it's Daddy's birthday and we had to come and see you" She explained as she hugged him.
"Sowy" He apologized in a cute tone.
"It's okay Nene guess what I got for you. Your Lego car"
"Yay!" he shouted. I smiled as he took it from my hands.
"Now are you going to be a good boy for Mami and Daddy so Mami can take Daddy to get his last birthday present?" She asked Max.
"Yeah"
"Okay I promise we will be back tomorrow.
"Otay I wove yall-" he said as Delilah and I got on our feet. Just when we were heading to the door Max stopped and caught our attention "Wait Daddy I got you a present" Max went to the coffee table and got this construction paper and gave it to me. It read in the front: "To daddy. Happy berday Daddy" in childish handwriting. On the inside, it read: "I love you daddy. You the best daddy ever" It made me cry tears of joy.
"Come here Nene" he went up to me and I picked him up giving him dozens of kisses not even caring that he had a cough.
"Daddy why you crying, did I make you sad?" Max asked.
"No sweetie these are happy tears" I said smiling at him.
"Why are you and Mami crying then?" he said glancing at Delilah.
"Because you are the best birthday gift for the both of us" I answered.
"Really?"
"Yeah"
"How?"
"Because Mijo you made me and Mami happy again when you were in
Mami's tummy"
"We love you to give Mami and Daddy Besos," Delilah said. He did so and we left with no crying Max. The next day when we woke up, Delilah was on her phone and I said "Morning my love"
"Morning baby"
"What are you doin?"
"Telling Aria to clear lay schedule "
"Why?"
"Because Max is my main priority and I want to take care of him" I was just about to answer when suddenly my phone rang. It was Marissa.
"What's going on?"
"Max's cough is only getting worse."
"Alright well be over" I got off the phone and hopped out of bed quickly and in a panicked tone, she asked "What happened?"
"Its Max the cough is getting worse according to Marissa"
"Okay" We both got dressed. She didn't worry about her hair, she just threw on a capped hat and called it a day. It was around in the morning when we got Max and took him to urgent care. We had to wait almost an hour for this doctor to come in. When she finally came into the room she said "Hi Mom, Dad and hello little guy" speaking to all of us. Max was on her lap rubbing his eyes because he was still sleepy. Demi and I just said hi to her and she asked "What's your name little guy?" He didn't speak because he was really tired so I answered "His name is Max. He's a little tired"
"Oh I see. So what seems to be the matter?" She asked as she pulled up a rollie chair.
"We took him to Chuck E. Cheese yesterday and he had kissed Stuart a little in this car ride and ever since he has been having a bad cough. His God Mom gave him cough medicine but he has a headache as well"
"Okay I'm going to give you a prescription for him you'll just have to go get it at CVS."
"Okay" So when we finally got home, I gave Max his medicine and tucked him in his bed and said "I told you not to kiss any other objects but yours right?"
"Yeah sowy" he apologized as he yawned.
"Consider this a lesson now get some rest Mami will make you some soupie tomorrow morning"
"Otay" I kissed her cheek and she kissed me back as well before I shut off his lamp and left downstairs. Demi and I snuggled on the couch and talked for a bit, having quiet time.
"So baby I've been wanting to ask you this for a while now..." I said to her, keeping my voice down.
"What is it?" she said putting her head on my shoulder. "Well now that we finally might have time after Max is well-"
"Get to the point" she interrupted.
"Okay um I was wondering how would you feel if I told you I got us tickets for our honeymoon"
"Wait what...how?" she asked shocked as if she didn't believe me.
"I was saving up the money that's why it has been difficult for me to pay the bills"
"I'm flattered but baby that could have waited the bills are more important "
"But I want you to have your happy moment"
"I do have, it's my boys. Y'all are my happiness. Thank you sweetheart but I don't feel right leaving Max. I'm not ready"
"We can leave anytime you want" I tried to compromise.
"Okay" she finally agreed. "But on some conditions"
"Alright shoot"
"Number one, we will FaceTime Max every morning and night. Number two, we will check in with our therapist before we leave and lastly, we will be sober on this trip"
"Consider it done"
"When is the deadline?" She asked.
"March 30th"
"Okay we'll go two weeks before that"
"No prob"
"Let me make this soup for Max before he wakes up" She said getting up from the bed fixing her shorts.
"Oh, and I love how you volunteer with me" She said before leaving the room. After she was done making Lipton soup for him, Delilah and I were room snuggling under the covers with her sitting in between my legs as we watched a movie. Thirty minutes into the movie the door opened, we jerked our heads to the left to see our son rubbing his eyes. I asked "You feeling better mijo?"
"Yeah but my head hurts"
"Come here and lay with Daddy while I go get your soupitas" She said before getting out of bed to help him up to sit next to me. "Okay" She went to go get his soup and warmed it up. When she came back to the room, we were laughing at a Tom and Jerry movie, the one with the magic ring. She went up to the bed and said "Here ya go my love. Be careful it's a little hot" warning him. "Okay," he said, grabbing the bowl. She hopped back under the covers where she was sitting before and I wrapped my arms around her chest and kissed the nape of her neck. she smiled as we enjoyed the movie. We just had family day sitting and watching all different movies until Max went to sleep again around ten at night.
