Chapter 11- Festival Opening'
Susan woke up the next day, feeling excited for this special day. Looking at the light, shining out her window, then she smiles. Susan turned around, looking at the right side of her bed. "Thanks, Ted, I will always love you."
"You'll never ever be forgotten," a hand on her heart. Susan got up and went into her closet to pick out a dress for the festival. She chose this beautiful long big white dress, which looks kind of like a wedding dress.127Please respect copyright.PENANAqPTdKCfPEU
She looked at it in the mirror, putting the dress against her body. Susan could see two spirits standing beside her in the mirror. Susan looked at the mirror and smiled. They smiled back, She could see her dad and Ted was there with her.'127Please respect copyright.PENANATDbdNHZ6oo

The guys are in suits, and some are in Cowboy hats and jeans. All different cultures were at the festival. African American, Chinese, Asians, Whites, Middle Eastern, Indian, and other cultures. Everyone admired the Mississippi theme of the festival. There were games there, music and musicians, the Arts, and Mississippi history tour attractions. There were people playing instruments. Lots of dancing, lots of beautiful arts. So many people were at the food stands. Betty was working at her stand, selling her apple pies. There is a barbecue area. A group of guys dressed as soldiers, to honor those that served years ago for their country and so many that died, that left Mississippi to join the army.'
'Susan walked up to Betty's pie stand. Betty gave Susan a big hug. "You look stunning my princess," Betty said. "Thanks, mom, you do too!" "I love this beautiful purple floral dress that you have on," Susan said. "Thanks my dear," Betty said.
Susan looked around for familiar faces. "Mom, have you seen any familiar faces?" Susan said.
"No, my dear but I'm sure they're somewhere in this huge crowd."
"Mom, this festival looks great so far." "Every year it gets more fun and crowded," Susan said. "Yes my dear, bringing all types of beautiful cultures together," Betty said.
"Mom, I'm going to see if the ladies need help at their stands, serving."
Susan walked past a group of guys that were dressed in army uniforms. One of the guys kept looking at Susan as she walked past.
Susan noticed some familiar faces at the barbecue area. "Fred and James!!!" "Oh my." "So nice to see you both," Susan said.
"Susan, It's my pleasure, beautiful!" "Good to see you always," James said.
There was an older lady with James and Fred, Susan noticed.
"Susan, this is my mom Pattie," James said. "Nice to meet you, Pattie." "Your sons are such gentlemen and both are good cooks," Susan said.
"Your mom's pies are delicious but not sure if they're better than our mom's apple cakes," Fred said. "Susan, it's a pleasure meeting you." "I'm glad that my boys have a mature classy woman, living next door, to check on them sometimes," Pattie said. "HA HA, I did have to play momma when I was at their house for dinner last week." "Then they started behaving." "I'm just teasing but they're really good guys and you seem like a wonderful mom." "They have said so many amazing things about you and how good your apple cakes are," Susan said.
"I would love for you to try some." "These cakes are selling really fast." "I'm so glad to be able to bring my part in the festival and to help find a cure for cancer," Pattie said.
Susan sees Betty, walking over. "Mom, I was just about to introduce you to my neighbors that I was telling you about." "This is Fred and James that lives next door to me and their amazing talented mom, Pattie." "Pattie, and James, and Fred, this is my lovely beautiful mom, Betty," Susan said. "Nice to meet you, Betty," Pattie said. Fred and James shook Betty's hand.
"Nice to meet you." "We enjoy your pie so much," James said.
"Thanks, handsome," Betty said.
"Mom, you have competition." "I heard that Patties apple cakes are a popular thing around Mississippi and they're selling fast here at the festival." "Maybe you both should team up together on opening up a bakery together." "Like a bakery business."
"I'll be glad to help invest in this business and I'll let my customers know at my shop about this bakery business."
"A good way to promote," Susan said. Pattie and Betty looked at each other. "You know what, that's a very good idea," Betty said.
"Let's exchange numbers and talk about this opportunity and put our minds together," Pattie said. "I'd like to have you over for lunch, and we can talk about it," Betty said. "Ok, sounds good!" Pattie said.
Shirley comes rushing over. "Sorry to interrupt y'all but we need a hand, serving these handsome soldiers over here at the Barbecue stand." "It's a long line," Shirley said.
Susan and Betty turned around, seeing a long line at the barbecue area. "Wow mom, everyone loves the food." "It's very crowded," Susan said.
Fred and James, were at the bakery stand, helping their mom, sell the
cakes. A group of guys dressed in army uniforms, all sat at the same table, eating lunch together. Susan walked over towards them. "Good day guys and thanks for your service," Susan said as she walked past. "Good day ma'am," all the guys said at th same time.
One of the guys kept staring at Susan, and then he turned his head back around fast as he pulled his hat down over his eyes.
The festival was going well. Ten hours later, Susan and Betty was walking around the festival, checking out the Arts and all the activities going on. Susan looks up at the sundown as the evening approaches, it's starting to get dark. The festival wasn't crowded like earlier. Everything started to calm down. Susan and Betty went over to the Black Creek park, by the festival. They both sat on the swings.
"WOW!!" "I always and still love swings," Susan said. "Your father always loved taking you to the park, when you were a kid."
"Good memories," Betty said. "This is a very joyous day," Susan said.
"It has been nice but your shining armor is waiting," Betty said as she wink an eye. "Ok mom, I'm just enjoying the festival for now," Susan said. One of the guys, dressed in an army uniform, walked past the park.
"Mom, I'll be right back." "I need to go get a shake from the ice cream stand." "Do you want anything?" Susan said.
Betty took money out of her purse. "Just a cherry icy, please," Betty said as she handed the twenty dollars to Susan. Susan walked over to the festival area, standing in the ice cream stand line. Betty is still on the swings, looking at the evening glittered sky. The festival and all of the Black Creek area now have different colors bright lights all colors The nightly sky is glowing. Betty, all of a sudden hears a whisper.
"BETTY." Betty thought to herself, "We never heard you talk." "I know you did not follow me to the festival." "Wait, did I leave the wine out again?" "Maybe I'm just losing my mind," Betty kept thinking to herself. Betty looked around.
"BETTY, IT'S ME OVER HERE IN THE BUSHES!!!"
Betty noticed A loud whisper coming from the bushes, behind the benches, over by the swings.
"OVER HERE!!" Betty got off the swings, walking over to the bushes by the bench. A guy kneeling in the bushes. He peeks his head over just a little, showing his face. The guy is dressed in an army uniform.
Betty looked closely. "Betty, it's me, Rob, sorry to startle you," Rob said.
"What are you doing dressed like that?" "I saw a group of guys dressed like that earlier, walking around the festival." "I didn't know you were one of them," Betty said. "Betty, I can explain." "By the way, those other guys are my football jock buddies from high school."
Betty looked at Rob with a crazy look. "Really Rob?" Betty said in a sarcastic tone. "They also have grown up." "Much better guys today."
"Look Betty, I wanted to celebrate our soldiers that ever lived."
"They sacrificed a lot for our country, just like your husband.”
“So me and the boys wanted to celebrate that today." "Plus I thought it would be best that Susan didn't know that I was here."
"Cause I know this is a happy day for her, and I don't want to distract her in any way." "I think she is still mad at me." "Did you give her the letter?"
Betty smiled. "Of course I did and I read it before she read it." "Such a beautiful letter." Rob looked at Betty. "And?" Rob said.
"We'll just have to see at midnight," Betty said. Susan was coming from afar, walking back from the ice cream stand.
"Oh." "Oh." "She is coming." "I'll see you later," Rob said as he put back on his hat and then he kneels behind the bushes fast. He then runs in the other direction, where Susan couldn't see him. "Mom, here is your change and A Cherry Icy." "I got myself a yummy strawberry ice cream cone," Susan said. "Thanks, love," Betty said. Betty and Susan continue to enjoy their time on the swings while looking at the sky that evening.
