Chapter 13- Cinderella
All of a sudden, Susan’s watch made a loud sound "DING!!!" It was Midnight. "SUE!!" A loud voice said. Susan turned around, seeing Rob running from afar, down the bridge from the other side, and walking towards her. Susan noticed he had on the army uniform and hat. She didn't have any idea that he was at the festival all that time.
Rob is breathing hard as he is now very close to Susan's face, gazing in her eyes."I found your heel in the street." Rob said, as he kneels to put the heel on her foot and then he takes the other heel out of her hand, putting it on her other foot. Rob then stands up.
"These are for you," Rob said, as he handed her beautiful pink, and purple flowers. "So that was you at the festival, dressed as one of the army guys?" Susan said. "I and my high school jock buddies were dressed like that, cause we wanted to celebrate the guys who served our country." "Just like your dad served this country before his wine business." "Plus I felt like that was a great way to dress in disguise, cause I wasn't sure if you wanted anything to do with me again." 125Please respect copyright.PENANAmDaZhBabD2
"I didn't want to mess this day up for you and I truly didn't want to miss this festival." "So I decided to keep myself disguise until I knew if you wanted to be in my life or not." Rob took off his hat. "Now I know for sure," Rob said.
"What about New York?" Susan said.
"I decided that I can work on some cases out here in Mississippi and make trips back to New York." "We will talk more about that in the coming days." "No worries, we will figure it out!" "You can always go back to New York with me for a little vacation." Susan looked excited. "New York?" "Wow, I've never seen it before but I've seen it on TV," Susan said. "Oh!" "Well!" "You're in for a treat." "Mississippi will always be number one for sure."
“There's no place like home.” "This has always been my home," Rob said. Mary, Shirley and Patricia, and Betty were all spying from the other side of the bridge. Watching Rob and Susan with tears of joy and a smile. "Rob, I read your letter." "I was so blown away." "So sorry for pushing you away." "I do trust you with all my heart," Susan said.
"What about Ted?" Rob said. "I got his blessing long ago." "I just needed time to mourn." "He will always be in my heart." "God sent you to me." "So my answer is yes, I want us to get to know each other more and see what happens." "But, one day at a time," Susan said.
Rob looked shocked. ”Wait." "Can I see that in writing?” Rob said in a joking manner. Susan smiled. Rob looked into Susan's eyes. "You are my Sweet September."
"I know this month is almost up."
"Will you spend October with
me?"
"October is associated with Autumn, so September and October are connected, just like me and you now." "It's the fall too and I love the different color leaves." "Let's play in the yard, full of leaves, and just be free," Rob said. "I will love to spend October with you Rob Davis and the rest of my years," Susan said. Rob and Susan gaze into each other's eyes. They both looked at the nightly sky. A shooting star went across the sky.
"Oh!!" Did you see that?" They both said at the same time, then they both laughed.
Rob and Susan stood very close to each other on the bridge. Rob put his arms around Susan, as they both faced each other. Looking into each other's eyes, they both kissed each other.
Fireworks popped in the sky from Black creek. The teenagers were popping fireworks at the park in Black Creek. Susan and Rob looked at the nightly sky above. Susan looked at Rob with a side-eye. Rob looked back at her as he giggled. "What?" "No, honestly, the fireworks weren't part of my plan," Rob said. "Well, it's good timing right?" Susan said. "Just right on time." "It must be destined then," Rob said. They both smiled while looking at the fireworks that lit up the beautiful nightly sky, along with the stars and moon in front of them.
Betty teared up from the joy that she was feeling. Shirley, Patricia, and Mary were happy too. First time kissing Rob Davis, for ten minutes on the bridge, Feeling safe, Feeling at peace, Feeling complete.' That high school young girl in her was beaming with joy.
