Chapter 5- Preparing
'The next day, early that sunny bright morning, the sounds of birds chirping, flying over the Mississippi Mountains. The light breeze sweeps all through the town. "BUZZ..!."BUZZ..!" BUZZ...!" Susan's alarm went off very loud. "Susan wakes up fast, hitting the alarm clock off button. Looking at the time, it's 5:00 Am.
"Ted it's time to get up sweetie." "The festival is in three weeks." "We have a lot to get done."
"Ted, I'm ....." Susan said in a pause. She stares at the right side of her bed, realizing that Ted isn't there. Susan lays back in her bed, looking at the sunset that's shining through her window. Susan starts to tear up, saying, "I miss you so much, Ted."
'A few hours later, that sunny afternoon, 'Susan Arrives at the Black Creek area, by the Mississippi Bridge and River. She parks her car in front of Black Creek. Susan looks out the window, at all the workers setting up the festival. They're getting the tables and tents all set up. She can see the Mississippi bridge and the river up the street. Her red long dress flowed, with a nice red fancy big hat.
Her hair is up in a bun under the hat. Her makeup is fully done, with red lips. Black Creek is a beautiful green grass area with lots of trees and picnic areas, walking trails, a tourist attraction area of Mississippi history, and a park.
Mississippi has been having its Festival here in Black Creek for ten years now. The huge open space in Black Creek is where the festival is being set up. Susan walks into Black Creek, looking at the guys that are moving the items from the big trailers and trucks.
The tables and tents are being set up for the festival. The whole area is gated until the festival is all set up in two weeks."Hi, gentleman, It's all coming together, it looks like," Susan said. "Yes, it is ma'am," One of the workers said. Susan saw Betty pulling up in her old red 1961 ThunderBird vehicle and other familiar faces and neighbors from the area, all arriving in their cars. Betty gets out of her car. "Baby, you look so stunning in your red dress," Betty said. Susan hugged Betty.
"Thanks, Momma." "I'm so excited about this festival." 128Please respect copyright.PENANAqTA2MgwNL2
"Last year was fun but this year is going to be more fun." Betty is looking around at all the guys setting up. "Yes!!!" "I love the decorations and Black Creek is such A beautiful place for an outdoor wedding too," Betty said as she wink one eye at Susan. "Mom!!" Susan said.
Three ladies walked up to Betty and Susan. "Oh my lord, Hi ladies." "So nice to see you three," Betty said. "This is my daughter Susan." "Susan, this is Shirley and Mary, and Patricia." "These three lovely ladies live in the Madison area, right by me."
"They're here to help out with the festival and they're cooking some food for the festival too." "Hi ladies," Susan said. "I'm so happy to be involved in the festival this year." "This is our first time being involved and being at the festival out here," Shirley said. "I'm making my yummy potato salad for the festival," Mary said. Susan sees Rob's car, driving towards the bridge from afar. Rob looked out his window, waving.
Susan looked very out of place. "Excuse us ladies," Susan said as she pulled Betty to the side gently. "Mom, I have to go." "I need to head over to my shop to go get some stuff done." "I know today we both were supposed to do the list and meet up with all the people off the list, who are supposed to participate in this year's festival," Susan said."My dear, I understand, no worries."
"I’ll have lots of help here today." "The girls can help me with all that." "Oh....!!" "The mayor might be coming today." "He is the part creator and the main person in charge of this year's town festival," Betty said. "Mom, that's exciting, will love for him to come," Susan said. "Mom, I have to run, I'll call you later on." Susan leaves fast. Betty looks concerned, as she stands there. "Love...You!" Betty said. Right when Susan got into her truck, driving fast up the street, Rob pulls up into the driveway in his dark sports car.
Betty notices him. She then walks towards his car. "Wow, what a surprise!!" Betty said. Rob gets out of his car. He's looking around. "Hi Betty, I was just in the area." "I was just noticing the tents and so many people here setting up." "So this is where the festival is going to be." "I now realized that this is where my dad used to take me and my brother when we were very young." "It didn't look like this but I remember this bridge."

"The Park too." "Wow..so much has been built here, ever since," Rob said. "I'm surprised that you have never been to any of the festivals over the years," Betty said.
"I know." "I just got into football and all the carnivals and school dances back then," Rob said. "Well do you want to stay and see how everything is coming together?" Betty said. "No, I have to go," Rob said. "Well Susan was just here but she had to run." "She's a busy girl," Betty said. "She's running away from me," Rob said quietly to himself.
"Well, Now that I know where the festival is gonna be, maybe I'll come to check it out," Rob said. "Looking forward to it." "You should go check out Susan's gardening class also," Betty said. Betty gets a paper and pin, writing down the times of the class and address. She then hands the paper to Rob Davis. "Oh yes, she was telling me about this the other night." "I'll be there." "Thanks, Betty and have a good day," Rob said as he got into his car. Betty waved at Rob. Rob waved back out his window as he drove up the street.
"Betty goes back over to the table area, where Mary, Shirley, and Patricia are at. "Sorry ladies!" I'm back!" "Let's start the recipe list on what you all are making for the festival," Shirley whispers to Betty. "Hey!" "What are you up to?" "Who's the cute young hunk with the black sports car?" Betty whispers back to Shirley. "Let's just say that he's my daughter's old high school sweetheart crush."
"Future husband but she doesn't know that yet!" "I'm trying to get her to see it." Betty and Shirley looked at each other. "Well moms always know best," Shirley said. "Yes we do girl," Betty said. They both gave each other high fives. "Ok,This is gonna be good!" Shirley said as she giggled with Betty. 128Please respect copyright.PENANAcAfVTjgKPo
