Chapter 4
I woke up early that morning. The three were already up. Well, I expected as much. I decided to check on Kenji. I don’t know why, but I felt kind of worried for him. He looked somewhat tired at dinner. I walked over to him. “Hey Kenji. How are you?”
He waved, giving me a toothy smile. “I feel like a volcano! Must’ve been from working so hard!”
“Huh?”
“Wanna workout today?” He asked. “I wanna burn off some sweat.”
“S-Sure,” I replied. “I guess we can go before breakfast.”

We worked out in the fitness room for about thirty minutes. I was sweaty all over again, but I was somehow used to it. I looked over at Kenji, he looked quite sweaty too.
I handed him one of the small towels from the basket
He wiped his face with it, panting.
“Are you okay?” I asked him.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” He quickly said.
“Okay,” I replied. “We should go eat some breakfast then.”

After everyone ate, I decided to be alone in my room for a bit. That was unlike me, but I feel like I needed it. I was worrying about too many things. How we got here, this killing game, the future foundation, Why we had to do this, etc. I could really use a nap. Just when I was about to close my eyes, I heard a knock at my door. Expecting it was Akihiko, I opened the door. It was Kenji. “Kenji?”
His eyebrows were creased. “Do you know where Isamu and Akira are?”
I shook my head. “No, why? Did something happen?”
“We only split up for a few minutes, and I was going to meet up back with them, but…”
“I can help you find them.” I said.
“Everyone else is looking for them too. He said, before leaving.
I followed.
“Dammit!” Amaya yelled. “Where are they?!”
“I thought I saw them in the hallway a few minutes ago.” Hanako said.
That’s when the screens turned on. And heard Monokuma’s laughter.
The screen showed Akira and Isamu chained up. They were struggling to break free and their mouths were covered.
Monokuma came up on the screen. “Welcome to your first motive! Kill someone to save them. By the way, this isn’t in the broadcasting room. I let one of the members loose to apply pressure. If someone dies, what will you do? Who will you doubt? Kenji? Yourselves? Others? AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!”
The screen turned black.
Hanako gasped. “They’re trapped!”
“K-Kill to save them?” Kaede asked.
“There’s no need to do that,” Kenji started. “I will find out where they are and free them.”
“We have our hero!” Chiharu cheered.
“But please,” Akihiko began. “Don’t push yourself.”
Kenji didn’t reply. He just sighed and said before leaving, “Don’t kill anyone.”
I followed him. “Wait, Kenji!”
He turned. ‘What is it, Asami?”
“I can help observe everyone.”
“What for?”
“You looked so exhausted lately, and I was getting worried.”
“You’re the one who looks exhausted,” He said. “You should get some rest.”
“I can’t,” I replied. “What if something happens?”
“Nothing is going to happen,” he said. “I will protect everyone.” And with that, he turned and continued walking away. He was right. I was exhausted. This was exhausting. I walked to my room and flopped on my bed, and fell asleep once more.
