This means that not only have I bid a joyous farewell to the most boring unit of this year, I also only have one more exam to sit tomorrow and then I will be 100% finished. I can finally read the books that have been piling up!!! (I have 20 on my TBR list and it's taken every ounce of my willpower to pick up textbooks instead of those)
So as the exam was a late one yesterday (5pm, seriously?!), the ending of it was followed by a mass migration to the pub. Since it was a Wednesday, there were probably about ten people in there that were not history students and had not just emerged from an exam.
I got to see some people I'd not seen for a while, some I'd rather have not seen and others I'd never met even though we study the same course. I truly enjoyed the feeling of not only being surrounded by some of my very good friends, but also the atmosphere of joy in the air. The sun was shining (which is a rare feat in Britain) and despite the other exams that are looming, we celebrated the ending of the first properly.
So this is an optimistic blog post, because no matter how stressed and tired everyone is before an exam, there's nothing like post-exam fever and flowing alcohol to knit everyone together.
Everything is worth it. All the stress and worry and the pain from writing revision notes for hours on end... It's all worth it for that sense of community, for buying people you've barely met pints and for sitting in a group of 30 people and feeling like you belong. It's all worth it.
