You woke up way too early for your liking the next morning. The day was going to drag by, which you hated, but there was no way you could get back to sleep. You dragged yourself out of bed and to the living room, grabbing a quick breakfast and throwing yourself down on the couch, trying to find something to do.
You decided to check Netflix when a thought came to your mind. If you were going to be spending more time with Jensen, you should probably watch his show. You scrolled through until you found Supernatural and pushed play, starting at season 1 episode 1. As soon as you saw him you couldn’t help but laugh. He was so young even his voice sounded like a baby. It didn’t take long though before you found yourself completely sucked in until your phone started to chime.
Jensen: Hey. Helping Jared took longer than I thought. You still wanna come over?
Y/N: Yeah, right after I finish this show on Netflix. Text me your address.
Jensen: K. Bring a bathing suit and extra clothes.
You furrowed your eyebrows at the message but got yourself ready, putting your bathing suit on under your clothes and packing a small bag with extra clothes like he’d instructed before heading out for the day.
As it turned out, Jensen didn’t live far from you but he certainly had a nicer place than you. It was a waterfront property with a pool and if he asked you to marry him right at that moment, you absolutely would, on the condition that you never move. “Hey.” Jensen greeted you with a warm smile as you pulled your bag from your car. “I take it you like the place?”
“I love it.” You couldn’t take your eyes off it. “It’s beautiful out here.”
“I know. Come on.” He took the bag from your hand and led you to the deck overlooking the water and the pool, where he’d laid out food all along the table and still had the grill running. He had wine chilling on the table along with an assortment of different beer and soda if you wanted it. The thought he’d put into everything took your breath away.
“You did all this?”
“Yeah. Might’ve had some help from Jared but it was mostly me.” Jensen chuckled.
“It’s perfect.” You took a seat and Jensen sat next to you, both of you looking out at the water as you ate.
The two of you stayed outside all day, watching the sunset along the water. You hadn’t realized he’d pulled you into his chest and was playing with your hair until he shifted and you pulled away. He stood up and shrugged out of his shirt, leaving him in just swim trunks. You couldn’t help but ogle the tanned skin and the muscles of his shoulders and back as he dove into the pool, which was lit a brilliant green. As soon as he resurfaced he turned toward you and smiled. “You comin’?”
“I –“ You stuttered and stood up, suddenly feeling more self-conscious around him than you ever had. It didn’t make sense. The man had seen you at your worst, nothing could honestly be worse than that. “I don’t –“
Jensen was suddenly out of the water, standing in front of you with his hands on your upper arms. “I’ve seen you in a hospital gown, Y/N. Come on.”
“Ok.” You breathed and took of your shirt and jeans, leaving yourself in your bathing suit. Jensen’s face went from serious to playful by the time you realized he’d been walking backwards, leading you toward the pool. “Don’t you dare!”
“What are you gonna do?”
“Jensen!” You squealed and grabbed his forearms but it was too late. He tossed you into the pool effortlessly, but you did not go down without a fight, pulling him in with you.
When you both resurfaced you couldn’t stop laughing. He grabbed your arm and pulled you to him, crushing you against his chest. “I can’t believe you did that, you jerk!” You punched his chest and he kept laughing, feigning innocence.
“You fell in and I tried to save you! That’s what happened!”
“Liar!” Your laughter died down to giggles, staring into Jensen’s eyes while he stared into yours. His eyes flickered from your eyes to your lips and back up to your eyes. Before you knew what was happening, his lips were on yours, soft and gentle. His arms both came to wrap around your back, molding you to him, and you wrapped one arm around his back and moved your other hand to the base of his neck to keep him there.
Once you were inside and in dry clothes, you cuddled on the couch with Jensen, some popcorn, and a few beers. There was absolutely no rush to leave, especially not now. “Anything you wanna watch?”
“Well…” You smirked, “This morning, I started watching your show if that’s not too weird for you.”
“You did?” Jensen chuckled. “Seriously?”
“Yeah. Kinda felt like I should. Baby you is really adorable by the way.” You shrugged and cuddled close to him, resting your head on his shoulder. “So we could watch that.”
“Hell no.” Jensen laughed. “What about Game of Thrones?”
“Fine.” You relented, rolling your eyes.
You closed your eyes halfway through the opening credits, fully intending on opening them again once the credits were over. When you opened your eyes again, the DVD was back to the home screen and the room was pitch dark. You were up against a warm body, soft snores filling the room. “Shit.” You murmured to yourself, rubbing your eyes. The time on the DVD player read 3am. You hadn’t intended on staying this late, much less falling asleep on top of Jensen on his couch.
As soon as you were able to unwrap Jensen’s arm from around your body and sit up, he stirred. “You’re leavin’?” His voice was much deeper and gravelly when he was half asleep and his hair was sticking up in all kinds of crazy ways. It made you giggle looking at him.
“Yeah. It’s 3. I didn’t mean to fall asleep. I’m sorry.” That wasn’t a total lie. You had been much more tired than you ever were normally. Ever since you’d gotten sick you felt like you couldn’t get enough sleep and it hadn’t gone away yet.
“No, stay.” He yawned. “S’late. You’re tired. No point in you going home this late. Sleep here.”
“K.” You smiled and sat back down on the couch, about to stretch out when Jensen grabbed your hand.
“I have a bed.” He smirked. “Unless you don’t want to. Then I have guest rooms.”
“Your bed is good.” You blurted out much too quickly but your sleep-addled brain really didn’t care. Sleeping on him was comfortable and if he was ok with it you weren’t going to say no. Jensen quickly ducked down, lifting you bridal style off the couch in one quick motion. “I can walk, you dork.”
“I know.” He laughed. You turned and wrapped your arms around his neck, resting your head on his chest. Before he got to the bedroom you’d fallen back to sleep, not stirring at all when he laid you down. “Night, beautiful.” He whispered, placing a gentle kiss to your forehead when he slid into the bed next to you.
The next several days you’d spent every single day with Jensen. Whether it was a simple lunch date or spending all day at his house or yours, you both wanted to spend all the free time you could together before you started working at San Jac.
Your first day there was crazy busy, training your new bartenders and putting all the stock where you wanted it to be. You turned around after putting a bunch of freshly cleaned glasses away at closing time just to be met with a pair of familiar green eyes. “Hey beautiful. Can I get a beer, please?”
“For you? Absolutely not.” You laughed, grabbing a bottle of beer for him anyway. “What are you doing here?”
“Meet you in your office when you close?” Jensen asked. You nodded and he took off, beer in hand, up the staircase.
As soon as everyone was gone and the bar was closed, you headed up the stairs. You were moving slower than normal today, although you weren’t sure why. Maybe it was the amount of business and not being used to bartending again. Maybe you just had to get back into the swing of it, but by the time you got to your office you were coughing and gasping for air. “Whoa, hey, sit down sweetheart.” Jensen shot up out of your chair and grabbed you around the waist, guiding you to it and sitting you down. “Take a deep breath. Come on.” He started rubbing your back, which seemed to help.
“Trying.” You wheezed. You could see the panic on his face as he watched you tried to suck in air until you finally managed to stop coughing and take in a big breath, then another, and another, until finally you were breathing normally again. “I’m ok.” You sighed.
“What the hell was that?” He demanded, more worried than angry.
“Ever since I got sick…it just happens sometimes.” You shrugged. “Coughing fits. I dunno. It doesn’t happen often. The doctor said they’d go away.”
“Ok…” Jensen didn’t seem entirely convinced but he let it go for now at least, since you’d talked to the doctor. “I came to ask you a question but now I’m not sure if I should.”
“No. Ask me.” You said, grabbing his hand. “I’m fine. I swear.”
“Well…” He chewed his bottom lip, searching your face to see if you were lying. “Next weekend I’m flying to Rome for JIBCon and I was wondering if you would go with me.”
“Jens…you know I can’t. There’s no way I can leave the bar when I just started –“ Jensen smirked and you furrowed your eyebrows, staring into his piercing green eyes. He clearly knew something you didn’t know and he hadn’t gotten to the point yet.
“Jared’s going too and in case you forgot, Jared owns the bar. You can go with me and you can manage the bar from Rome. So if you wanna go, it’s taken care of.” Jensen smiled bright and you wrapped your arms around his neck, squeezing him tight.
“You’re amazing.” You sighed.
“One more thing.” He said and you pulled back, waiting for him to finish. “If you do this, people are gonna know about us. People are gonna know you’re my girlfriend. Are you up for that? It can get kinda ugly.” You knew he was right and it was absolutely terrifying what people could dig up about you and your past, but you loved him. Nothing else really mattered.
“I still have you right?” He nodded and you smiled, taking his face in your hands and placing a quick kiss to his lips. “Then yeah, let’s do this.”
