(Mira Oka)
I was starting to feel homesick. Well-not home, homesick. But another place I claimed to be called home since I was more comfortable there. I should try to go there again. I crawled out from my hideout. I would be lucky to not get caught. I spun and ran the other direction. My ability is complicated as it is, and sometimes hard to wield. But, it’s faster transportation. I let intense air out of my hands, making sure it doesn't fly me off, as it was air from a tornado. That’s what I have. Chaotic weather ability. I can summon anything, but it has to be from a natural disaster. I could even take small aspects of it, or minimize it. I could easily blow the whole council building, but that would wreck the buildings around it and the building itself. That isn’t what I want. I just want a way to free myself and everyone without harm. Using the little bit of air I possessed, I let it levitate me as I flew through streets and neighborhoods into a park. It was nearby. I let the air I used vanish, and ran the rest of the way.

Laura and Lena raised me for quite some time after my parents died. Their house was also a healing centre as it contained a patient room with an abundance of medicine. They were both siblings and were really kind to me, despite how rude I was to them when we met. But I had changed. I grew closer to them, and refer to them as my family.

I finally found their place. A small rocky house with a wooden roof. There were several trees surrounding the area, and even a small sized cave nearby. I knocked. The door opened slightly ajar, and I could see Lena’s violet iris peeking at me. That’s when the door swung fully open, and she greeted me with wide arms. “Mira, you’re back!”
Laura was standing next to her. Unlike Lena, Laura was tall and muscular.
Lena wrapped her arms around me. “It’s been so long!”
I hugged her back. “Yeah, it’s been a while. How are things?”
Laura crossed her arms while leaning against the wall. “Same as usual. Just helping others who stop by.”
Lena rolled her eyes. “Guards who keep asking for you. Escaping them, huh?”
I nodded. “An endless battle of getting chased and hiding,” I paused before adding in a more quiet tone. “It’s my fault all of this happened though. That’s why I have to keep trying. At least, get close to the building.”
Laura appeared hurt. “Aw Mira, none of this was your fault. It’s just people in general. We live among creatures and humans. Most of the people in the council are humans. They don’t understand creatures or people with unique abilities like us.”
I wanted to believe that, I thought with a sad smile. My powers are rare. Well, to be more accurate, it’s corrupted. Ever since my mother had me, she fell sick and the powers took a turn on me. Was marrying my dad a mistake for her? I flinched at the thought. I didn’t want to admit it, but I was-am afraid of my dad. Although he’s gone, I could still feel his presence linger. Him glaring down at me with beady eyes. He never liked me. He’d always lock me in the basement. He even blamed me for making my mother sick. I sometimes look in the mirror to see my reflections. My brown hair and my brown eyes. Just like my dad. My father’s eyes. It’s like a reminder that he existed and that…terrifies me.
“Mira.” Laura’s concerned voice shattered my thoughts. I turned to her. Her eyebrows were creased in worry. “Are you alright?”
I shook my head and smiled. “Yeah, it’s just been a long day. I should get going.” I held onto the doorknob, but Lena’s voice stopped me for a moment. “You can stay the night.”
I waved my hands. “Oh no, please-”
“I insist,” She said, cutting me off. “It’s like you said. It’s been a long day, so you shouldn’t push yourself too hard. And, it’s been a while since we spent time together.”
“That’s what living independently is like.” I told her.
“Please let us accompany you here,” Lena replied with pleading eyes. “It’s the least we can do. That’s what friends are for, right?”
“You're more like a family,” I whispered, before looking back at her. “Okay. I’ll stay.”
