(Ace Katsuro)
Bitch.
I constantly tried pulling my arms off the wall, but it was too thick to budge. And for some reason, my abilities didn’t seem to work. I couldn’t fly, shoot lasers, nothing. Why? I glanced up at the handcuffs around my wrists. Unlike regular ones, these were red. Does it block something? And that’s why I can’t use my powers against it?She probably knew that because I’ve hurt her. I sighed and attempted to pull again. I kept pulling until marks started to appear on my wrists. I stopped and noticed two people walking toward my direction. A tall pale person with a blond ponytail, and a short tan skinned girl with long black hair and a floral outfit. I backed up against the wall. “Who are you guys?”
“I’m Anita,” The girl said. “And that’s Vera,” She pointed at the blond person next to her. “We were instructed by the professionals to pin people like you in certain destinations so they can come over to capture you.”
“You asked that twisted psycho to pin me here?!” I asked in a raised voice.
“We had a deal,” Vera replied. “But that’s besides the point. They’ll take care of Mira. But now that we have you, our job is nearly complete.”
Anita shot me a smug grin. “I heard they were going to end you. You must’ve done something pretty bad.”
“So bad that it’s classified.” Vera added with wide eyes.168Please respect copyright.PENANAXJK4YmeM0g
I clenched my teeth, shooting back a glare. Before I knew it, the sudden feeling of adrenaline started to kick in. My breath was quickening again. I can’t go to them. I hated them. I can’t let them near me. I can’t. I realized I was panicking. How unlikely of me. These past few months have been a breeze. Now it feels like the incident is rubbing all over my face. I have to leave.
I focused my eyes back on Vera and Anita, who talked over her phone. They must be calling them. Hurry! I acknowledged the scenery around me. Right, I was still in the forest. I found two twigs nearby and propped it up with my feet. I craned my neck over to hold one of the twigs with my mouth. From there, I shook my head aggressively in order for the twig in my mouth to create friction to the twig standing up from my feet. Until my mind felt somewhat dizzy, a fire sparked from the twig in my mouth. I tilted my head back as far as I could and moved the burning twig farther out of my mouth to let it rest against the handcuffs. I watched the handcuffs start to melt and it went dim and I let out a little exhale in relief. When they finally fell to the dirt, along with a piece of ice, I blew out the fire from the twig and ran immediately. From a distance, I could hear Vera’s voice raise in confusion. “Where did he go? He was right here!”
I ran faster. I have to find a better place. A lock of blond hair extended past me, wrapping around the trees to create some type of trap. My eyes darted from side to side. This is from Vera, huh? I then noticed Anita running catching up and a large flower was aimed at me. It wasn’t a normal flower. There was something peculiar about it. It had several magenta shaded petals overlapping each other. The outer layers were larger. “Smart escape attempt,” She started. “But there’s nowhere to run now, or my flower will shoot a fragrant gas to knock you out.”
Vera finally caught up. I knew it was his hair that was the one extended as I saw it lying on the ground while its ends created a trap for me.
“You work for them, right?” I asked, almost breathlessly.
Anita shrugged. “I mean, yeah. They gave us this opportunity so we can see our families again.”
Their families aren’t with them, I thought. If I make a deal out of that, that would save me right? “What about a deal?”
Anita raised an eyebrow. “Another one?”
“Ignore the one that stupid chick told you,” I started. “This one is a proper win-win situation.”168Please respect copyright.PENANApjgoOZ4nSH
“Really?” Vera asked.
“I’ll take those borders down,” I told them. “Let that be my responsibility. So you can see your families.”
Anita was silent for a moment. Her eyebrows rose in surprise. “You’d…do that?”
“Yes, trust me I don’t want to be here either. Why did you think I hid for three months?”
“But our job is to capture you,” She said, twiddling her fingers. “Surely that will bring us our family.”
“If you try to capture me, I will find an escape,” I replied. “I won’t stop. As I’ve said before, I hid for three months. What’s a few more?”
“But how can we trust you?” Vera asked, his voice going panicky. “B-Because if we let you go, you could kill us.”
“Then fight for your survival.” I said.
There was an unsettling silence.
Anita lowered the flower. “Wait…so we’re a team now?”
“Temporary helpers.” I corrected.
Vera and Anita exchanged nervous glances.
Anita gave a nod and Vera loosed his hair as it started to shorten to its original length.
Anita sighed. “Okay. Fine. I guess it wouldn’t hurt. We’re both after the same thing.”
Vera nodded. “Yeah, then it’s settled.
I stuck out my hand. “Not so fast.”
Anita’s eyes widened while Vera frowned before saying, “Huh?”
“Give me those phones.” I ordered.
They pulled theirs out and handed them over. I dropped them on the ground and stomped on them until they were not able to function.
Their jaws were dropped.
Flatly, I replied, “No contacting them.”
I turned my heel and motioned for them to follow. They were no longer enemies to me. Just dummies so my ass won’t get kicked as often. I didn’t want to admit it, but it lifted just the tiniest quantity off my shoulders.
