Brooklyn
I make it through the day and make my way home. On my way to the lobby on the elevator, the door opens. In steps a gorgeous, blonde guy. He steps into the elevator with such confidence. He smiles at me and I smile back, trying to hide how shocked to see such a good looking man in the elevator with me, an average girl.
He stands patiently as the elevator doors open and close and people get on and off. When we finally reach the lobby, he steps out of the elevator as do I. I start to walk towards the door when I hear someone say my name.
“Brooklyn Jennings?” The male voice says
I turn around and confidently say “Yes?”
The blonde man, who has yet to be named, approaches me and says “I thought so. You are such an amazing editor. I’ve been wanting to talk to you since you started here.”
“Thanks.” I say in shock. “It’s nice to meet you.” I stick out my hand to shake his.
He picks up on this cue and he says “My name is Spencer Collins.” He says as he shakes my hand.
“I'm really glad I got to meet you, Spencer.” I say and smile. “I’ll see you around, I guess.” I say and start to walk towards the door.
“Wait, wait.” Spencer says behind me.
I turn around “yeah?” I say.
“This may be really forward, but would you maybe want to get a cup of coffee with me?” He says
I’m very surprised, but flattered at the same time. I suppose he could be fun and he seems like a nice guy.
“Sure” I say.
“Okay, great. After work tomorrow?” He says
“Sounds good. See you then.” I respond with a smile.

I haven’t heard from Luca all day, which I suppose is a good thing. Around noon, I walk down to the lobby to the conference room because there is supposed to have a meeting for the editors and the editorial interns. When I walk in, I see Spencer sitting at the table so I take the seat beside him.
“Hey, so you're an editor?” I say as I sit.
“Brooklyn, hey. Yeah, I was Jules’s intern last year.” he responds.
“Oh, really? It's a shame that she isn't here anymore, I really liked her.”
“Yeah, she was a really great editor.”
“Yeah. Well, anyway, are we still on for this afternoon?” I question
“Definitely.” He says with a smile.
“Great. Six work for you?”
“Yeah.” he responded.
After the meeting, Spencer and I decided to take the stairs so that we could talk about what coffee shop we wanted to meet at and frankly I just wanted to spend time with him. He is a really sweet person and I enjoy hanging out with him. When we get to my office, we exchange goodbyes. I sit down to finish my work and get these manuscripts edited to take them to Luca. Oh, wait, crap, that's right. I don’t want to see him. I wonder when or if they are going to hire someone to take Jules’s place so that I won’t have to see him at all. I hope it's soon.
I finished the manuscript and mustered up the courage to take them to Lucas office. On the elevator ride up, I contemplate what to say to him or if i should even say anything at all. By the time I reached his office, I had decided not to say anything, just hand him the manuscripts and then leave. Though that didn’t go as I had pictured it.

I knocked on the door and walked in. I sat the manuscripts on his desk, gave him a side glare and walked out, but before I could he said something.
“I saw you talking to Collins this afternoon.” he said
I turned around and said “What are you spying on me now?”
“No, Brooke. I own the company, so I know what goes on and plus I was there.” he said
“You were?” I say surprised.
“Yes, but you obviously didn’t see me because you were too busy drooling over Spencer.” He says angrily. “You know, Brooke, I came to see you. I had no business at that meeting, I have bigger things to worry about, but I knew you would be there so I came.”
“You don’t need to come see me because I don’t want to see you, Luca. Thanks to you, in a few days, I will have nowhere to live, and I now have no relationship with my mother or my bestfriend and all for what? Nothing.” I spit.
“Brooklyn, I’m sorry, I am. I just did what was best for you.” he responds.
“How would you know what's best for me? I’m nineteen, I think I know what's best for me.” I say starting to tear up.
“And what is that Brooke? What do you think is best for you?” Luca questions.
“You, Luca. You are what's best for me. I know you don’t think so, but deep down you know that isn’t true.” I say now sobbing.
“Brooke, you know that I love you and I probably always will, but I am no good for you. You deserve someone like Spencer, as much as it hurts me to admit it, it's true.”
“Why? Because you claim to be a horrible person or have a side that I don’t know about? Aren’t we all? Don’t we all have a side we don’t want anyone else to see? You may not believe me, Luca, but that won’t scare me away and it won’t make me leave, but you know what will? You trying to hide who you really are. I want to know you Luca and that includes the part of you that you are scared to show me.”
“I can’t Brooke. I am sorry.” He says
I don’t have anything left to say so I just walk out.
