Brooklyn
Today is Saturday so i decided to do some shopping before Nathan gets here. When I moved to Los Angles, we made a visiting arrangement. Every other weekend he comes to visit me here and I go visit him at home on the opposite weekends. It’s been working very good so far and I’m glad because I really miss him during the workweek. I head to Target and do most of my grocery shopping for the week. On my way home, I call and make reservations at this nice Italian restaurant a few blocks from my apartment. I text Nathan the address and tell him to meet me there around 8pm. That gives me just enough time to get all of my groceries put up and get ready.

Once I am ready, I head out the door and make my way to the restaurant. I decide to walk because it’s a nice night and at the end of dinner that will give Nathan an excuse to walk me home. When I enter the restaurant, I can smell the garlic in the air and just that is enough to make my stomach growl. I’m excited to try this new restaurant and I’m glad my first experience here will be with Nathan. I give the hostess my name and she informs me that Nathan is already seated at our table. When I approach him, he is looking down at the menu.
“Hey, anything look good?” I say.
“All of it!” He says as he looks up from the menu.
“It’s so good to see you, how was your week?” I respond.
“Good. Definitely not as interesting as yours, I’m sure.” He laughs.
Imagines of Luca flash across my mind.
I just laugh.
When we get our food, I eat all of mine and half of Nathan’s. This is definitely one of my new favorite places in Los Angles. We walk back to my apartment and I invite Nathan in to watch a movie.
“What do you want to watch? Not the notebook again.” He says and laughs.
“It doesn’t matter to me, you pick.” I respond from the kitchen.
I love having these nights with Nathan. Just the simple things mean the most to me.
Nathan falls asleep in the first ten minutes, but I stay awake and enjoy the whole movie. I’m just about to wake him up when I hear a knock at the door. I get up quietly and walk to the door. Who could it be this late? When I open the door, I’m completely speechless. It could have been anything and nothing would have surprised me as much as Luca standing at my door.
“Brooke, it’s good to see you” He says confidently.
I push him out into the hall and quietly close the door.
“What are you doing here? Wait, more importantly, how did you know where I live?” I question him angrily.
He smirks at me showing his dimples.
“Come on Brooke, you don’t think the president of the company knows where to find his employees?”
“You can’t be here. Nathan’s here.” I respond deliberately avoiding eye contact.
This man drives me crazy, but his eyes drive me wild.
“Come on, let me in. I want to meet this nice guy that’s obviously nothing like me.” He says sarcastically.
“No you need to go.” I say and point down the hall.
I turn around to go back inside, but he grabs me by the arm, turns me around and kisses me. This time I kiss him back. There’s that fire again. He brushes my hair out of my face and cups my cheeks with his hands. I shouldn’t be kissing him and I know it, but I don’t care. In this moment I want too. He turns me around and pushes me against the wall and kisses me harder. How can a kiss feel this good? A voice in my head keeps telling me to stop, not to do this to Nathan, but I push it back. His hands move down my side to my waist and I’m wondering how far I will let this go. I don’t have to worry about that because as soon as this thought leaves my brain, the door opens.
“Brooke, what’s going on? Who’s this?” Nathan questions.
I push Luca away and walk towards Nathan.
“It’s nothing. I’m sorry Nathan, but let me explain.” I say, starting to cry.
“No, no. I’ve seen enough. I’m leaving.” He says as he grabs his things.
“No Nathan, wait.” I beg as I chase him down the hall.
“I don’t want to hear it Brooke.” He shouts back.
I stop in the hall as I see him outside, get in his car and leave.
I walk back to my apartment and Luca is sitting on the floor outside the door.
“Brooke?” He says quietly.
“You need to go, Luca.” I spit.
“Your right, I’m sorry.” He says as I close the door.
How could this happen? I was happy with Nathan. What am I supposed to do? I just lost the most important person in my life.
