As for Hayley Dawn Guevarra, high school was the start of a new chapter of her boring life. For her, this is another thing she needs to be accustomed to. She was so used to seeing people feel so lively just by looking at her. She was used to the attention people give her all her life because of her pretty face. She is used to being the center of attention. For her, it was a normal occurrence in her dull and lifeless life.
It's no doubt that she was treated like royalty because her mother is a well-known former top model and now CEO of a famous modeling agency. Her father is a well-respected congressman in his hometown and was living a thousand miles away from them. Even though her parents are very much together, the distance between the two doesn't stop her from thinking she's living with separated parents. It's more like they're divorced rather than together.
Her father coaxed her a lot of times to move in with him and study there, but she wouldn't even dare to set foot, once again, in the land that destroyed half of her life. It was the place where she lost her youngest brother during their summer holiday, five years ago. It was the best place for her, the one place she cherished the most, it was the only place where she could be herself and not think she was a rich heiress. Her brother Eugene was only five years old back then...
It was a nightmare no one in their family dares to talk about. It was like an old treasure chest buried deep and almost forgotten. She was not the sentimental type, except for her brother's memories. She used to sing him to sleep. The reason is that she has a very nice voice. Since then the world has never been the same, and she blamed her father for it.
She was not a dark person in front of the crowd; she can hide her true self, the thing she became. She was used to hundreds of admirers; she knows how to win their favor. She was this "it" girl; Pretty face, fabulous fashion sense, nice voice and glowing skin. To put it in simple words, she had it all. She is what her admirers describe her: Perfect. Although she knows it was only skin-deep.
She was far beyond perfect. She was nothing but a fraud. She smiles when the circumstance requires her to. She wins the hearts of everyone effortlessly; she pleases her mother just for the sake of being pretty. She was the princess as she has treated one though royal without a happy ending at that.
Now was the first day she was sent to attend this top of the list expensive and prestigious school in the city where she was expected to rule the campus with her charm. And this famous school is called St. Claire Academy. For her, this was another boring place to start her day meeting fake people and just by thinking about it makes her tired of wearing her fake smile.
Hmm... Though not bad for an all-girls school... She thought.
She was walking down the entrance and giving the campus a once over, she's not even surprised. She was used to seeing grander buildings after all she has been to different countries all her life. Her mother brought her along back when she was still modeling. She was her lucky charm. That's all. Her lucky charm... Sometimes she wonders if that is what she will ever be to her. Some parents.
She entered the great hall where the welcome ceremony will be. Other girls can't help but notice her, the way she walks and the way she wears her uniform.
Actually, the reason she was convinced to attend this school was because of their cute uniform.
It was a solid plum-coloured sleeveless vest with white lining here and there with white big velvet buttons, a cream-coloured blouse with a mini-puff short sleeve inside the vest. Partnered with a knee-length plum coloured pleated skirt. And she even enjoys pairing it with her Altadonna washed denim booties in black, which is awesome. One privilege in this school is that fashionable heels are not forbidden unless you wear them black.
She made her way among the rows of the seats and took her seat two rows back from the front. And played with her phone.
