It has been two days since Yuri's absence from school. Angel was looking at the empty seat across from hers. She was still reminded when she saw how that cute, adorable lady looked that day on the rooftop. She looked so alone…. She wanted to know what happened that day, though she has an inkling of what it was. Raeven told her it looks like she was bullied by her so-called friends, and extending a hand right now is not a good thing for her right now. According to Hayley, that cute, adorable girl needs to go through that pace for her to grow up. It's only life. She will never learn if she's always sheltered.
That's Hayley for you, her version of tough love….
Somehow, Angel felt sorry for the poor girl. She still remembers how she spoke to her about acting like a typical teenager and doing some teenager stuff on the first day of school. She's free-spirited and bubbly. How could someone treat her that way?
"Gel, we know you want to do something good for her, but really, that girl needs to wake up first. Not everything is beautiful in this world," Raeven said with a bit of sympathy. Lately, she was melting ice everywhere.
"Ladies, today, I want all of you to group yourselves into four members. Starting next week, we will do a weekly activity. I want you guys to do a book review, but with a twist. I don't want just a report in front, but more of like a presentation, so everyone could get involved. I want to test how often you guys read and also to check your knowledge based on the previous lesson we tackled." The professor did a lengthy explanation while looking at the bewildered faces of his students. Then he stared at the empty seat that belongs to Yuri.
This is the second day Yuri spent her day in the mall. She was supposed to be in school and studying, but she didn't want to go there anymore. She didn't know how long she was going to continue this stupid act, but she could feel so depressed. She does not have a friend, not even a single one. She used to love going to school. She loves being around girls her age and wearing pretty school uniforms. But now, she was left with a backpack and her uniform inside it. She knew that her parents would not ask her about school and no one will tell since she had already called in sick. Really, it was very easy to lie to anyone, but not to her parents. Good thing her parents were out of the country at the moment. It was the first time her parents left for another country without them. She assured them it will be okay, that they won't need to worry about a thing. But it only took a few days for her life to crumble like a sandcastle, making it hard to keep it together. Her parents told her that if there should be a problem, all she needs to do is to call, and they will fly back as soon as possible. But how can she just call them and rush them back? She feels incompetent and helpless. There were her relatives and cousins that she can turn to. But she does not want to talk to anyone right now. Most of her old friends DM'ed her and invited her to go out and play, but she declined all of them.
When she went home yesterday, she could not eat dinner. She was not hungry since she spent her time at the mall throughout the day. All she ate was junk food, fast food, and all the unhealthy kinds of stuff. And when she's alone in her bedroom, she cried while sleeping and she could not sleep until 1 in the morning… She's a total mess.
It was the most horrible thing that ever happened in her life… She never thought there will come one day that she will experience bullying. She should've been able to move on by now, anyway. She was not friends with those girls for that long, but still, the experience is hard to take. Most people's greatest fear is humiliation, more so than death itself. Once your confidence was hurt, it will scar you for a long time. Yuri has an outgoing personality, and it was never easy for her to be alone, and so, moving on will be a lot harder in her case.
Going back to the now, she was on her second day, strolling around the mall. It was the biggest mall in the city-owned by the Samontes, initially; she doesn't want to spend her whole day here for the fear of someone she knew finding her out and telling on her, but she has this feeling deep inside of her wishing that Angel Samonte will come and find her. It was contradictory somehow; she wants to be alone but yearned for a kind person to come and comfort her.
She sighed heavily.
It has not been long since she started high school, and all hopes and expectations she had in her head were crushed into nothing. She can't believe that just one humiliation can erase her enthusiasm. How can she go on moving forward? But if she's being honest, there's only one thing she's looking forward to when she entered the academy; popularity and privilege. Maybe Hayley was right. Being a rich girl is not just about being spoiled with material things, but also about having your own identity, so what if you are a born-rich girl? No matter your status in life, whether you're rich or poor, a girl still needs to have her individuality and throw away her shallowness.
But is it worth thinking about it? She's only 15. What can a young lady do? Should it be nice just to act like a rich, spoiled brat until she reaches 18? It's not her fault her family is rich!
Yuri was like having a war with herself at that moment that she didn't even notice the big glass door in front of her as she just goes straight into it.
Mr. Samuel Matthews was out with his girlfriend. They were strolling around and were about to go find a place to have a late lunch when they heard a loud crash; it sounded as if something hit hard on a glass. When they turned around, they saw two people huddled in a corner and looks like helping a girl to stand up and checking if she was okay. Mr. Matthews and his girlfriend turned their head out of curiosity and also looked on. There were few shopgoers since it is a weekday, it was a good thing for that girl as she will not be embarrassed too much, however; it was still embarrassing a little. When he heard the girl saying reassurance that she was okay, he was taken aback.
"Ms. Rivera?"
