It was a beautiful day that day; the sun was high up and the bustling school was teeming with girls' energy everywhere on the campus.
Angel needs to submit a paper to their science professor, so Raven gets to the rooftop first.
The wind on the rooftop is the best. This is the feeling Raeven missed, she doesn't know why it felt so good like there was something mysterious just by being on the rooftop. For her, it was the distance that gave her from the solid ground. She knows that it was equal to the feeling of being a queen of her own universe. She likes the feeling of being a queen. She looked from above and around and she appreciated the surroundings where most parts were green. The prestigious campus where it was located and embraced by nature. She saw a big telescope and went there and looked into it. She can see the campus grounds, she feels its grandeur and elegance and its rich environment. she feels like she's looking over her nation, while the people below were her very own subjects. She was about to giggle at her own corny joke when she took another angle of the telescope and noticed that she could also see the other school campus not far from St. Claire Academy. She knows that the rooftop on the other school was not that near. Suddenly, she got an idea to get a telescope of her own; she didn't know that it would be much fun doing this kind of thing, like spying, had she known she would've got herself a pair of telescopes before? Never in her life will she get a nonsense idea just like this. Maybe this is because of boredom. She fumbled with the focusing knob and after a while; she surveyed the spacious rooftop of the other school. Well, it was the same as a typical rooftop, minus the telescope. Only their school has it. She was about to leave the telescope when something caught her attention.
Someone was on the other side, a person, alone, just like her. Then she realized that the other school not far from theirs was an all-boys school.
The guy who was sitting unnoticed from the dark corner of the rooftop, most probably hiding from the scorching Sun, now stands up and walks to the center of that rooftop. He was looking at the sky, not afraid of the sun's glare. Raeven was spellbound; the guy was handsome. A male god, tall, straight nose, smooth face, thin lips. Though she cannot see his eyes, she assumes that he has captivating eyes. And he had black shoulder-length hair that was whipping gracefully in the hot wind. She finally moves onto his body. Well, he was wearing a school uniform, and with the distance; it was hard to make out his biceps and chest and abs... She was stunned to realize that she was having perverted thoughts. She felt that it was really getting hotter with each passing second. She stopped and fanned herself using her two hands. She was about to resume looking at the male god when she heard Angel call out her name. She instantly went into panic mode and hastily turned to face her friend; looking guilty. Damn it, why should she even feel guilty?! She has done nothing!
"Hey, I'm sorry to keep you waiting. " Angel said, a bit mortified for making her friend wait for her. "Come on, let's eat. I bet you're hungry." She said then led her to the far-left corner of the rooftop. There was a round table with four chairs under a big beach umbrella used to block the scorching Sun from them. But before they could even sit on the chairs, they found someone on her own.
"Hayley?!" Angel said, surprised.
Hayley was leaning on her reclining chair and had her earphones plugged in her ears listening to some music. She was rather bored. She just raised her beautifully arched brow. "Oh? You looked surprised to see me, why is that?"
"No, it's just that... Where're your friends?" Angel asked and looked around looking for those noisy girls.
"Don't be surprised by seeing me here alone. You should be surprised if you only knew what someone was trying to do before you walked in... " She said mischievously, looking all smug while teasing the girl behind Angel. Fortunately, Angel was still trying to look for some imaginary friends who don't know how to stick with Hayley's mood, so she didn't catch Hayley teasing Raeven.
Raeven's face was red. Hayley was not sure if it was because of anger or the unbearable heat. Raeven just glared at her. Hayley just shrugged but still cannot stop looking smug.
I seriously want to wipe that smug smile off your face...
"Hey, since you are here, you can join us for lunch." Angel kindly offered. And she didn't wait for her answer, just set up the food container on the small round table.
Hayley just looked at the food. And she arched one beautiful brow at Angel's passion for taking care of other people.
"Seriously, you're like a mother hen." She mumbled but no longer looked at her.
Raeven looked at the food inside the container, ignoring the other girl. "Gel, you take all this food to school? Are your parents scared of you being hungry?"
Angel let out a soft laugh. "No, silly. I have no idea what you like, so I brought different dishes, please help yourselves eat whatever you want."
Hayley, on so many many occasions, will not join in, but there was something in this duo that she cannot say no to. She was never in a good mood for quite a while now.
"You made this?" Hayley asked while holding a pudding. She took the small plastic spoon and took out a small portion. The pudding has a creamy consistency and is very firm. It was soft and pudgy. The moment she tasted it, there was something that brought her back to an uncertain time. She was on a beach shore and her little brother gave her a lump of mud that he formed using his little hands and offered it to her as a pudding. She laughed. The only time she could laugh freely.
"When did you start making pudding?" Raeven asked as she noticed Hayley was having alone time or pretending that they don't exist. And Angel was about to ask Hayley.
Angel was still looking at Hayley. Is there something wrong with my pudding?
"Do you really do all lady-like stuff? Like cooking, baking, tea parties, sewing, and everything?" Raeven teased her.
Angel widens her almond-shaped eyes. "You're such a bully, Rae. Not all that. I admit, I do cooking and baking and I learned how to sew. But it's only basic, I'm a girl, and I enjoyed doing those kinds of things. But a tea party?! God forbid if I do that."
Raeven giggles and Angel joins in. Hayley observed the two giggling fools. So, this is what it looks like to have a friend... She never dreamed of being betrayed, but she didn't want to be forever alone.
It must be nice to have a friend...
