I wrote this short story two years ago for an assignment in my college English class. This is one of the first short stories I have written.
At the time, I was playing fantasy video games and reading George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, series, so when I got this assignment, I thought, "Hey, I'll just write a fantasy story or something."
It is a fantasy inspiredby medieval Europe. There are some aspects of feudalism I guess you could say, concerning the setting. I'm not sure if this has to be said, but of course, it may not be exactly accurate to real life history, but it is a fantasy world made by my imagination, so inspiredis the big word here.
The story follows a knight who is caught between doing what is right and what his loyalty compels him to do.
(STORY EDITING. GRAMMAR NOT POLISHED.)
Once, people believed that there exists something of a rare ability. Something of the impossible.
But only the royalties have actually seen it. No person of an inferior position than them had the privilege of gazing upon the said miracle.
But for decades, the said miracle has gone missing. And whoever finds it would have honor never before bestowed on anyone.
But none have yet to succeed.
It cannot stand the heat of the sun. For it was one with the water. It can command any form of water, may it be the pond, the river and most especially the sea, to heal anyone who holds it if the need arises.
And in isolation, it was kept.
In cold, it survived.
And in heat, it shattered.
It was known as the 'heart of the sea'.
Hyacinth can only watch. Cursed with knowledge, the support of hundreds from her underground newspaper does nothing to make people understand, know, or ever truly believe. As Azdea could never avow the same sentiment, the unstoppable revolution shall either pass the test of time— or fall deep in disrepair for eternity. And what will be the price...
This story is about two people who learn that sometimes Home isn't a place but a person.
It has been a century since the world experienced a war. After the last war, the world was left in a state of destruction that made recovery impossible. Almost-- if it aren't for the people who revealed that they have special abilities.
Year 2119, the war had started again. And Reins must run or fight for their lives.
Death seems like the only option when you hit rock bottom. However, the end is not acceptable if the wrong person gets dragged into the mix and the only way to get them back is to become a messenger, a hitman, bait and just about anything your purple-eyed contractor says or can think of. To get through something like that, you'd really need hope, faith, and a partner to get you out of those sure-to-die- situations.
Betrayed by the people she trusted. Tortured and enslaved by the hands she once aided. Everything that kept her still sane was the desire to kill the one who did this to her. The one behind all this. All she needed was an opportunity and surely it was given to her. By him.
